Hello every one..

To day me and my cousin installed a hydro boost on my 93 typhoon. After we finished the work we went for a test drive. man i all most eat the glass  Then we sad lets do a launch with the truck we did like 3. After those 3 attempts the truck felt slow. I thought i had brock the transmission but wen i smelled the smoke coming from the front wheels i sad brake propplum  The front brakes gets stuck. After it cools down the truck run good. But drive it for some time and the brakes will get stuck. What can it be?

Re: hydro boost brakes

just a thought , i've seem it happen , are you sure the rod in the hydro boost unit is the same length as the booster you took off. if its alittle longer it may be holding the brakes partly applied.

Re: hydro boost brakes

Were did you get your hydroboost setup and what did it cost? I want to put it on my SY but really don't want to spend a ton of cash. Thanks.

Well the hydro boost setup was given to me by my cousin. It came off a mid lat 90s astro van. so it did not cost me any thing. I used my stock master cylinder and adapted it to the hydro boost and used the same factory brake lines.

Thanks for the info. I think that is what I may do. I am trying to get it done, along with 27 other things, this winter.

Re: hydro boost brakes

go to a junkyard and get a hydroboost unit off of any older (80's) full size truck. it requires NO modification to the master cylinder. you can cut the rod off your stock booster and weld it to the hydroboost at the right length. you can buy the bracket from turbo time, or just make your own (its just a plate of steel with a big hole and some studs). then, go to an autoparts store and buy hydroboost lines from an astro van, a full size, or whatever is easiest. I got mine from an astro and just bent them around a little till they fit fine. its so simple to install, why spend extra money for a "kit" when you need a couple parts and a little bit of work. the pressure lines were only 20-25 bucks a line at advanced where i got mine and they work great.

50 bucks in lines
75 bucks at the junkyard for a hydroboost unit
0 if you make your own plate.\

believe me the first time you drive it and boost launch with this setup it will make it worth the effort!

yep thats all you have to do. I did my own bracket. I did a boost launch got up to 10psi with the hydro boost. And with the old set up i got only 3psi so the hydro boost brake works for me
