I have been real busy. Sorry. I have the hydroboost going on the truck for fit and the lines are going to be made in the stainless stuff in a day or so. I have to pull the dash to do it right and its just COLD outside right now. I still should be able to offer the whole kit in a box to your door even for around the $200-$225 range with brand new braided stainless lines. I do not have the price on the lines yet so I can't say for sure till I get them installed on my sy.

I will let anyone interested know what I find out when I get the prices.

John

Thanks John. I am still interested.

what a sweet inexpensive upgrade. would it be better to use one from a 1 ton truck opposed to an astro? does anyone know if I can use astro power steering lines on a k truck booster?

the one i used was off of a truck, it had a much larger canister on it and i didnt have to modify my stock master cylinder at all to make it bolt up. the astro lines threaded right in and sealed tight. :2cents:

Re: hydro boost brakes

So what is a HYDRO BOOST system, this is new to me....is it just like an upgraded master cylinder that allows you to lock up your brakes for a boost launch!? Thanks ---

Re: hydro boost brakes

the power brake booster is operated by the power steering system instead of engine vacuum. im sure someone will give a better description. kind of a diffrent feeling pedal compared to vacuum assist but you get used to it.

like i said before, you can go to the local auto parts store and buy lines, and with a little tweaking you can make them fit just fine. the nice thing is it looks totally factory when your done if you take your time, and you will have less than $50 in the lines...

Yup your right! I just went to my local auto parts store to look for fittings high presure lines.Should be less then $40.00 for the hoses and fittings.

Re: hydro boost brakes

Is this mod more of a "feel" thing or will it help reduce braking distances for those that have already upgraded to camaro/corvette brakes?

Re: hydro boost brakes

I think that the hydro boost is one of the best mod's i have done on my truck. For those that are interested in installing the hydro boost brake i defiantly recommend it. You will feel the differents on braking. When i go to do a launch it holds better then before. I launched at 16psi and it seems like its glud to the street. Going to try to launch at 19psi.

i think it was a late 80's, like 88 or 89. i got mine off ebay too, paid like 70 bucks for it shipped.

the pedal will feel totally different to you. when you hit it the first time hold on, cause it only takes a very very light touch to make it stop under normal conditions. the holding power is the key. i already had 13" bear brakes on the front, but i would still creep forward after 6-8 lbs of boost, now i can hold 20lbs without a problem...

and as for those lines, dont get discouraged when you first open the box. you can make them fit with some bending. it took me a little while, i would make small changes and try it on the truck until the fittings would go in smooth on each side and it wasnt rubbing anything. it looks stock though, and cleared everything nicely.

Re: hydro boost brakes

Does doing this require removing the oem brake booster? I got a broken hood cable i gotta replace so maybe i'll do both at the same time?

What lines and where from? Part number please? I have to order them from the UK rather than just go into a store :D

Also, has anyone got any more info on the rod that is a different length than stock that affects the feel and braking distance etc please? I'll need to do that over here...

Thanks,

Mark

Re: hydro boost brakes

there is a company that offers a complete Hydro boost install kit for s-series. forgot about the company name, they were like $1100 for the whole kit.
