New member
Being new to this game and noticing how young everyone is and that I have been interested in Typhoons since they were produced, but unfortunately, due to my location and money availibility have not been able to own one until now. I wish to ask the ultimate question HOW FAST CAN A TYPHOON REALLY GO? Living in the UK we do not have the roads and our police force are much worse so no messing with them, so I dont think anyone here really knows but you gents there in the great USA must really know. I really look forward to your replies.

Top end wise? I believe they were tested to something like 135, but I'm almost positive they have an electronic limit at 120 in stock trucks

I assume you talking about top speed. The trucks really shine 0-60, so top speed is not its forte because of areodynamic and AWD drag. The stock chip has a boost limiter of 8-9psi (vs full boost of 14psi) at 126mph for Sy's. Most of the Ty have a 116mph boost limiter, some have the 126 from what I have read. I suspect both can still acclerate beyond the 116mph or 126mph speeds. With an aftermarket chip top speed are in the 140-145mph range for stock trucks.

I was clocked in Brazil with my Ty at 217 km/h (135mph). The truck is all original, but I don't know if the previous owner change the chip.

I know of a stock Sy that went 140 with only a chip (at 5280' of elevation).

I've had the Sy up to 115 on the freeway, engine turning @ 4K with still more left in it:tup:

haha I had a cop ask me the exact same questions when we got busted for street racing.

Cop - "So how fast can this get up to"

Me - "I dont know officer I only obey the speed limits"

Cop - "Don't xxxkin lie to me"

Me - "I dont know officer my speedometer stops at 125"

But there has been times where it was pegged at 125 and it took awhile to move back even though I was on the brakes.

I can get mine to 130+ in the quarter (still in third gear) and it is still pulling...LIke mentioned before the speedo sit on the peg for a while.

Wish they had a 160mph speedo for us. My FAST system doesn't data Log mph or I could get a real number.

FWIW My Sy has been to 110-115 and still pulling when I let up. Made a couple of 100 mph runs in the 1/4 with last years tune.

You need to do that on the highway in a syclone.

Made it from inside a garage in Elgin, IL to inside my garage in the City which is maybe 25miles or so in 11 minutes flat. The mirrors on the syclone got folded in.

But I was alot younger and careless then don't think I'd want to do it again.

I'm with Marlboro Ty, on our Sy It looked like the mirrors were going to blow off. Scared the hell out of me.:eek:
