How far down are the pistons?

Just curious, just have far down the bores are the pistons from the factory?

.020" - .035"

Anyone ever measure this? Stock engine I am asking about.

Has anyone actually figured out the compression ratio on a stock engine?

I know what it is supposed to be.

But are the heads cc's are what they are supposed to be?

My old notes when I pulled my stock motor was .032 with a 9.020 deck height. I am sure they varied from motor to motor and probably from front to rear...and each bank could be different. Factory motors were not an exact science when machined.

I am just thinking if our engines were to have a zero deck height, would they tend to detonate less?
