Help with throttle cable binding

I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my throttle cable so I can see if it is causing problems with my TV cable function. When my wife would floor the gas pedal, the throttle assembly would not rotate all the way to the stop. I could reach in physically finish rotating it and it would stay there until she let off the pedal and then the whole thing snapped back where it is supposed to.

I'm thinking that if this is a problem, it may be why my truck won't downshift properly when I floor it. If it isn't pulling the TV cable properly, it won't give sufficient line rise. At least that is what I'm hoping. I've got too much time and money involved in it to give up. That's what I keep telling myself anyway

thanks so much for any help or advise!

Does that mean that the throttle lever indeed is supposed to rotate until it makes contact with the stop or close to it? Mine is about 1 1/2" arc from reaching it. I tore out a good 1" or 2" of padding and heat insulation from under the carpet.
My Ty has had problems before I rebuilt it so it may be something else I have to overcome so I don't burn up this tranny.
Thanks!

Yes, it should go to WOT with foot to the floor, your cable has stretched with time or your bracket at the throttle body has bent. If it doesn't have any frayed spots, you can crimp a fishing split shot weight over the cable at the pedal area, thus shortening it, instead of cutting up your floor board carpet, pad, ect.. I have also seen the same thing done on the Throttle body end of the cable. You might check into a new throttle cable, while you can still get them... I think the 93 ty's are still available..

in my case the cable was not the problem,it was the throttle body it self that had worned shaft that made all this shit

To you guys that helped with the throttle cable question, here's what I did. Under the advise of Barry, I put a 3/8" thick washer under my gas pedal mount. It is under the bottom bolt only and the bolt passes through the mount and then the spacer and then into it's hole in the firewall/floor. Perfect. Throttle response improved DRAMATICALLY. I also found a cable for the heater/AC doors(I think that's what it was)was under the throttle rod. You could actually see a shiny spot worn in it where the rod had been pinching it. There is a slot in the top of the bracket that this fits through perfectly. GM assembly line Dummies. What else can I say?
Thanks everyone!
