GMC Truck decal

I have bought a set of decals from eBay and have got one that says "GMC Truck Motorsports" which I am not totally sold on.

I am planning on buying a stock replica from a member here - WannabaTy - and need to know what colour to tell him? I am thinking perhaps I should e-mail the guy I bought the other ones from so I get a match but was wondering if anyone knew straight away. The cladding is getting painted this week so I am kind of in a rush all of a sudden.

Anyone have any pointers?

The truck is staying white with grey cladding but the white is whiter than stock and the grey is darker than stock...

I just read up on the decals and it seems I can just trim the "Motorsporst" part off it. I guess I'll go that route.

Anyone got any objections? Is that the way to do it?

I actually like the motorsports decal when its the correct designed one. Just make sure when you slap em on, they are in the correct location :tup:

Is there a resource where I can get the locations from - reference measurements or anything like that?

I am kind of torn with the motorsports logo but kind of think that less is more - ya know?

I hate trucks that have no logos or badges or anything. Hmm...

Dont have the exact 92 measurements offhand. Best would be to goto sportmachines.com and look through the 92 truck gallery and do your best guesswork.

Unless someone can run outside and give you some quick measurements. IMHO, on the Tys, I like them to be in alignment with the backup portion of the tail lense like Robs truck pictured above. Granted, his Typhoon is slightly larger than stock due to its mimimicing the marlboro...those decals are slightly larger than production stock.

That pic you posted.... my opinion...to far inward, to high up.....but thats "correct" for 92.

I found a thread you started a while ago trying to document the placement of the decals - did you not get any info?

Hopefully they'll all be on the truck by the end of next week.

Dude - you know I love your truck :rotf:

I guess I was thinking more of cars in the UK where all the handles are shaved and it's all smoothed down and there are no badges or anything to identify the vehicle and the paint is all one colour - just seems bland. Yours has a lot of character and is no way in that category

Am I out the doghouse yet?

Shuggs - yours looks really good - hmmm....guess it depends on the layout and the colour scheme....

you couldn't measure those up for me could you? I really like the location you have the decals in. Are they stock for a 93? I am not to concerned if they aren't as it's all about looking good

I'm actually with you on the logo less trucks UK. They have to have SOMETHING on them and not all just paint. It gets worse with a billet grille with no GMC on it.

To me, iMo. The motorsports under it looks to after market. Kind of like you had a shop do something to the truck and they slapped their personal logo on there. But I'm also the type of person that likes everything looking dead stock on the outside and interior with a few exceptions.

I've never liked the way they did the rear decals from the factory in two different spots.

I had them put together in one decal with the word motorsports added in the mix!
