Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

yea i understand i really need to save a little money also. but i will head down there saturday morning unless some people are coming in friday and want to hang out then i can come down there for a little while and head back becasue it is just a little over an hour drive for me.

I have been busting my balls trying to get everthing together. I decided to just put the turbo kit on the stock motor and blow it first and then put the built one in. but i finally got all my JS design coilovers stuff in so i will have to get all that set up also, but long nights of working here i come.

but i need the sizes becasue that is the only thing that is holding me back from putting the turbo on.

Sounds good Jonathan.....Matt & I will be heading down together early Sat., so I'll give you a call when we hit the road.

***UPDATE***

I spoke with the GA F-Body Assoc (GAFBA) and they're welcoming us with open arms. Judging by their forums and past events, there will be plenty of F-Bodys, Corvettes, AMGs, Fords, and Imports to have fun with. We've even been challenged by a F-Body member who wants to race a "stock" SyTy (Is that what he calls stock or what we call stock? ;) ).

Some details.........

- We'll be racing in the "X" class (non F-Body) if anyone wants to bracket race.
- Time trials start @ 10:00 am and Eliminations start a few hours later.
- There is plenty of time during the Eliminations to do time trial runs.
- Those racing in "X" class will be eligible for "Best Reaction Time" award (I think).
- Cost to race is $25 and cost to watch is $10.

For those interested, I'll be going down to the track Saturday afternoon to see if the Vette Bash is a closed race or open to the public. If it's open then I may make some passes Sat. night to dial in my meth chip better.

Lastly, I still need a definitive room head count by tomorrow afternoon!

Hood; I talked to Adam yesterday about coming up. He said he's probably going to come up friday afternoon/night. We dont know if Ian's coming yet or not either.

I'd like to head up there with Adam, just as a backup incase something happens with him. But I dont know if I wanna leave friday yet. But I'll let you know. ;)

If you guys head up Friday night, I will too. Be a good chance to hang out, tune, etc.... LMK more as this will dictate my room situation as well.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

I will be leaving Friday afternoon around 12.

Doesnt matter to me if we dont have the hotel until saturday... I'll sleep in the chicken coop, those little drumsticks stay warm enough anyhow... either that or I'll camp in the bed of the syclone and stare at the friggen stars I was mezmorized with last time.

Oh.. I AM NOT RACING! Spectator only. We all remember what happened last time my truck graced a GA track. It spent the rest of the weekend on jackstands in Scotts garage.

Plus, my trans is basically done anyhow which is the reason why no racing. A stock truck can beat me... unless you want to race from a 75mph roll-on and watch how well a PTE52 helps top end power :)

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

Let the countdown begin. Will 237 make it to GA?

Items that are stopping me:

1. Arrival of new 50# chip from Hood - the least of my worries
2. Propshaft still NA... however, I *should* have a Gilbert installed before go time. Backup plan will be to theive ChromeBoy's if necessary :squint:
3. Transmission - can this POS survive another run to GA and back?

The last time the Sy moved any sort of legitimate distance was the last GA meet. Total distance traveled since the meet is roughly 2.2 miles to the gas station and back, which was about 3 weeks ago.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

the open exhaust doesnt bother me to much on the highway... makes for a good time when going under bridges and overpasses. plus Hood digs it cause he knows where Im at on the road at all times.

have to see on the block what to do... if i can drop it off or bring it... rather drop it off than try to haul that thing all the way there... cant drive as crazy with a block in the bed

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

Im adding another problem to my list:

4. Gas prices.

Ive been hearing that GA has some stupid gas prices going on, $4+ per gallon. As it stands right now, if gas skyrockets anymore, Im not going, sorry.

It would kill me not to go, but it would financially kill me more to spend $200+ on gas for a weekend. Its definately become a serious issue to factor in for me.

Hood, whats going on in your area as far as gas?

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

$2.79 per gallon for Premium around here yesterday. Hopefully, this matter will resolve itself and we can have our meet as planned. We filled our farm tanks and every vehicle up this week, so we'll have gas no matter what happens......it just sucks having to set aside $100 in gas money for a 350 mile round trip.

Oh....I have your chip done, Adam. Hopefully it won't cost me an arm and a leg to ship it back to you now.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

Man I'm moving south, coming to live with Hood. Yesterday regular was from 2.79 to 4.98, this morning the store that was 4.98 was 3.79. Almost every gas station is out of fuel. And as much I don't want to say this, I second Adam's motion on maybe not coming. I will have a place to work on my Ty by Monday but that doesn't leave me much time to prep and paint my cladding. And I'm trying to get time to remove my PS to have it fixed to hopefully take away the vibration at 70mph.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

I was thinking that same thing last night Adam, if the gas prices dont go down to what they are right now (like between $2.78-$2.88) I probably wont be going either. I'm using my change (quarters, dimes.. ect..) that I've collected from the last year to fund my trip. (or 3/4 of it if it goes that far. ) And I can easily see $300 just for gas alone. :( Thats gonna blow. (and that right there is about 90% of the change I've counted so far. )

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

yea i know about the gas deal. that is why i started to ride my bike.

but hell up in atlanta one of my buddies wifes was up there and she said it was over $6 gallon up there. Here in milledgeville it has leveled off at about 2.99 for regualr and 3.19 for premium.

but i will be there no matter what.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

I'd hate to see this meet diminished by gas prices, but I completely understand if some of you guys can't make it. On that note....I'm not gonna set aside a block of rooms for us due to the fact that we may not meet the 10 room minimum. We'll just have to share rooms and divide the cost.

So.....we can all call and reserve rooms with:

Days Inn
300 Commercial Heights
Hwy 49 & 90 & 341
Fort Valley, GA 31030
478-825-3600

Current rates are $62.99-$69.99 per night.

Regardless, I'm definitely going......if for nothing more than to have some good drinking time with Jonathan.

Hope to sell all of you there.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

I really hope we can all go... I was very much looking forward to a nice weekend of SyTy and enjoying myself and trying to make up for the shitty weekend I had at the daytona meet. I love driving the Sy on the highway and cruising...nothing beats highway speeds with a 52 spooled and an open DP

Im down for spliting a room if I end up making it... hell, I'll sleep on the floor if it came to it...I just want to hang out with the group and BS about trucks.

Hood, if you need a few dollahs for s/h, just let me know... I need to call you anyhow, have some news that youd be interested in.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

Just post up some gas prices around the week before we're thinking about getting together. If they arnt crazy like right now I will probably go. For no other reason then to get it tuned again at higher boost levels to make sure its still running good.

That and I would love to break it into the 11's. Its got the pull thats forsure.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

I am crossing my fingers that the gas prices will be at leaqst leveled off to a degree before the meet. Else, i may not go. I am already skipping my vette show.

Re: GAST Meet - September 24th-25th

Its still rising around me daily. Its up to $3.39 for 93 right now.

The sy is not moving out of the garage for the rest of the month. The only time it will come out is to go to the track with a old friend and a few guys from the local chevy dealer end of the month. But I'm out of this meet. Sorry guys. I really am. Wish the damn gas prices didnt make me do this, but I forsee the price hitting $3.50 a gal here within the next week or so, and I'm going to have to start cutting back on other things to cover the price. And it will take more then 2 weeks to regain the money lost from the gas prices right now. Unless they drop to $1 a gallon before the end of the month. But that will never happen.

Adam, if you want I'll send you the money for the block, or you can just hold onto it until later in the month/year and I'll get it from you then. But consider it sold. ;)
