Full frame off resto

Rained on Saturday this week so I went over to work on the truck on Sunday. Went for a quick drive last weekend and while out, I noticed 0 oil pressure and the check gages light flashing. Not good. Was about 1/2 mile.from the garage so drove home and parked it. Didn't sound bad, maybe a bit hot.

Today I went over to install new gage piller with boost gage, scan Master and oil pressure gage. Once installed and all hooked up, started the engine up. Still 0 oil pressure only this time sounds bad. God damit. I really hope my 10K engine isn't done. Really not too happy at the moment. I'll let you guys know what I find but feeling defeated.

I went back over to pull the distributor, I have a tool to spin the oil pump shaft. Once everything out of the way, I put the tool into my cordless drill and spun the pump. Definitely resistance as the pump turns but Still no pressure. With the oil filter off, oil does come out the oil pump mount but very little pressure. Oil doesn't smell burnt either.

Although I don't have time today, I think the next step will be to pull the oil lines to inspect and possibly the oil pan to inspect or change pump. Maybe the pickup come off. Maybe the pump done/plugged with somthing. If I do end up changing the pump, any recommendations?

Anyone else had this issue happen?

Till next time.

So the process of pulling the motor out had begun. Again.

So back over this morning to continue with the engine removal.

Unbolted fuel rail, upper rad shroud, trans cooler and oil cooler lines, removed AC compressor brackets, and power steering pump bracket.

Out came fuel rail, bunch of wiring etc. I'm trying to remove as little as possible to make installation quicker.

I've taken a bunch of pictures to assist with this. Think the only thing really left is Bell housing bolts, exhaust manifold bolts and few wires/cables/hoses. Next visit the engine should be ready to lift out.

On a positive note, I will be able to redo a few things eg: front fog light wiring harness was in the wrong spot and I wish I had painted the firewall previously, I will get the chance now. Seems to be covered in some sort of glue or sealer. Possibly from the factory. Also wanted to paint the cruddy looking brake booster

Also, anyone know where to get reproduction stickers like the ones on my rad support? I'm sure someone makes them.

Hey All,

This weekend continued with the disassembly, pulled driver side apart and all the remains is the motor mount bolt.

Screw around with the bell housing bolts a bit and got two out. Front accessory drives are off, water pump wiring etc.

Started on passenger side. Definitely harder as much tighter due to the turbo. Loosend off some bolts etc but the rain started and I wasn't into it after that. I did pick up and engine leveler to help remove. I'll grab the engine hoist from my shop and with some luck, she's comming out this weekend comming.

This is what I mean by the glue crap on the firewall - the yellowish stuff. Once the engine is out, I'm going to clean down the firewall the best I can, mask and spray. I'm also going to paint the brake booster a nice factory looking satin black.

Got the engine out and dropped off to the rebuilders. I'm looking forward to getting some answers with regards to no oil pressure.

In the meantime, this will give me a chance to paint the firewall, fix some shitty wiring and clean up some things I whish I had of done the first time.

Hey guys,

Haven't been able to log onto this site for some reason. I have joined Facebook but can't post on syty Facebook page for 30 day period.

Anyways, got the engine back yesterday from the rebuilders. Oil pump drive gear became loose on the shaft causing the pump to fail. New pump installed and everything else checked out fine. Bearings, rods, etc all good. So it's now sitting beside my truck awaiting installation. Probably start that this weekend.

If I can get back onto this web page again, I will upload the photos of the installation.

Hey guys,

I know its been a year since I've posted. Most of the time can't get onto this site. Signed up to Facebook but I hate it and hardly use at all.
I have many posts to update but I'm going to start here and add as often as I can to bring my post up to speed.

So stored the truck over a very cold and snowy winter. This pictures are from April this year once I finally had time to work on it.

So last year I ordered (by a recommendation from you guys) Lord Fusor med speed 152, surface modifier, reinforcement screen and the double barrel gun for the tube. Got one or two tabs done before the product dried within the mixing tube and once I made another pump, the frigging tube of 152 split and went everywhere. Yeah I was pissed.put the truck away and that was that. This year, starting with a new tube and gun, repaired all the broken tabs (about 10 in total) and reinforced all the rest.

This is it laying out on the grass drying, which was quick. Stuff worked amazing and the tabs are probably strong as new or close to it.

Hey guys,

I'm sure this site doesn't get much traction anymore, too bad I wasn't more involved or had my truck in storage for the last 20 yrs. But I'm going to continue to document my resto for those who are interested

So for anyone who's been following me, you know I had to remove the freshly rebuilt motor due to faulty oil pump. Apparently everything inside was ok. Since the motor is back in I've put a few km on the truck driving around town slowly breaking it in. Runs and sounds great.
At this point, I've had all the glass removed. Was hard to find someone to come over and remove the rear quarter glass and front window.
I couldn't drive over as the pass side glass was only held in but a thread once I removed the window rubbers I put some ductape on to hold untill the guy from the glass.co showed up. He did a fine job and cost.me $150. When he comes back, he's bringing a new front window.

Hey,

So I have been getting quotes for the paint on my truck. Once place month ago said 6000, then a week later it was 8k. I've gone to others and either they don't have time/only do insurance work or want 10k+ . Holy shit, the body is straight and mostly rust free. Few pin holes over thr rear glass and few small dings. The worst is the tailgate and it's just minor dent.

So I figure I've done everything else except valid the short block so I'll do this as well. My uncle has painted a few vehicles including his own '47 Ford PU and it looks awsome. He's going to help. I have use of a spray tent, a high quality 3m gun, air compressor and drier.

I've sprayed some printer on it to highlight the dents and scratches. Fixed all with less then 1/4 cup of filler.
Wish I had more pictures but this was this weekend so far

Not sure how this small dent got here. Probably from pulling the engine back out. The fenders are cheep the the amount of work to change out not worth it to me. I poped out the best I could and this received a small bit of filler. Don't have a picture yet of the results but turned out nice.
