Ever wonder how strong our frames are?

Well we put one to the test yesterday.
For mattw's rack & pinion mockup/fabbing process...he decided cutting the front end of a frame off would be a good idea.

Well i don't know if you've ever torch cut a frame w/ the body on...but you can't get all the way around the frame since the body is in the way. Well not sure of what to do next...we decided to try to just tear is the rest of the way apart.

literally 5 secs after the vid stops the frame snapped apart. It actually tore a little bit at the top seam before breaking apart. Pretty strong shit though. :rotf:

Uhhh, wouldn't a plasma cutter get the job done alittle easier?

no it wouldn't. I cut the frame w/ a torch first....still wouldn't be able to get to the top of the frame (between the body and frame) w/ a plasma cutter.

That was .... :D not weak hm, thats explans why the chassis of the fastest Sy/Ty dont need to much work to be stiff in the first place..

Awesome video. :D

Re: Ever wonder how strong our frames are?

You only had a couple more body bolts to take out and you could cut the frame clean. Also it would have been off to weld it back together. Hopefully you didn't mess up the body if you were planning to keep it.

Of course this may just be a donor jimmy/blazer to give you the front chassis section for your rack and pinion development. In that case we think you should have beat it even further...maybe rolled it on it's back and slamed it a couple of times so we could get the feel of how well the body does (or doesn't) hold up!

Good luck on the rack!

it was a clone, it has already been shot numerous times with various guns, lit on fire, and raped for any worthwhile parts.

we still haven't shot it w/ guns.

I did sign my name on the drivers side door w/ a grinder though. Hopefully matt got a good pic of it - i was quite impressed...came out better than my handwriting
