My girlfriend is weird on the subject, I was shopping for 15" rims for the Blazer to keep it around $200 for the set, she picks out C5 Corvette 17" rims for $500 (aftermarket copies)
Then when I started telling her how much it'll cost to build the 4.3, she didn't seem so enthusiastic anymore.............

Mrs Vortec and I pool both our paychecks into the bill paying acct
but keep about 5% for fun money in sep accounts. Anything that costs
more is discussed and agreed upon and bugeted. I had a fairly large budget
this year..... I found it better to put a price on the project rather than each
stage or part that I spent money on. It avoids conversations like..
"$ 500 for a new turbo !!! omg are you nuts, whats wrong with the old one !!!"
Life has become much easier that way.

I probably heading for a show down at the syty corral here in the near future. My wife thinks I buy and sell a lot of syty parts as she sees the boxes show up and then they disappear. That is because my TY II (#0735) project started 2.5 years ago and she doesn't yet know it. (the new Sy project started last year and she doesn't that either.) The Ty II project was just painted last week and will be needing to come home in the near future. It definately will be interestinng times come showdown at high noon...
Of my 10 year ownership of the Ty (#0883) in my garage...her usually quotes are..."now what...", "Is it now done", "is that (part) new?", "when did you get that?", "I don't think you would tell me what it really costs...", "there is more to life than a truck..", "I think all this stuff is more expensive than I want to know...", "what's in all the boxes?", and the number #1 quote..."when are you going to sell that thing!"....

My girl knows,but she also knows that it is more than a truck,it's my hobby.
I don't hunt or fish go to Nascar races or collect lunchboxes,ect. I just try to improve on my truck as much as possible,race it,and go to meets all over.She's cool with that.
She was even cool about naming our son after the Typhoon.

I dotn even know how muchy ive spent on my S-15...... and its up there probly couldve have built and 11 second TY for the amount of money i have into my S15 and I sitll dont havent finished building my motor :O

shes my gf. She said if we ever broke up she wouldn't take the Ty.. but I agree how bitter women can get in a hurry. If it ever came down to it I'd sell the Ty for a $1 to a good friend and buy it back later. It will be a long while before we get married (school comes 1st) so I won't worry till thennatsforever said:

Me and the fiance have an understanding on everything that as long as the bills are paid, we do not object with each other she does what ever with her money (shopping) and she does not ask what everything cost for the trucks.
Most of the time it is one of those don't ask so don't tell deals.

I ahve to admit she does not know ALL the stuff I've purchased for my Ty in 2.5 years. I arrive home earlier than she, so I open it mark it and stash it before she gets home. If it is somthing a bit expensive or an extra trans we need to talk about it. She always agrees if I need it so I do not know why I don't let her in on it all. She says she is #4 with me, after NFL football, my Ty, food then, her. I hear that every other week. It's not true but, like most of us married peolpe, I could not do this w/o her support.
