Craigslist is a joke!!

This April my wifes lexus truck comes off lease and i decided becasue of all the crap going on in the world the economy for one we should wait and just let her use my car for a few months and for me to get into a used truck of some sort. Basically more of a commuter vehicle but i need 4 wheel drive. Anyway I have been looking at craigslist for the last two days and i have to say they should just close down that site. I sent 5 emails to 5 different email addresses that have posted there vehicles for sale and within 24 hours later i received 5 emails stating hello the truck is in great shape and i can have it deliveried to you as soon as i send payment. Nothing but scams. Scams,scams,scams.

This is annoying. I cant believe this. What happened to craigslist....?????????

That sucks, I use it all the time and for the most part have nothing but good luck. Maybe cause I'm by Frisco where it started:dunno:

I don't know but 5 surrounding counties in St Louis are using craigslist personal ads to bust prostitutes.
There have been stings every weekend and "businessmen" according to the news are being arrested for propositioning as well as the girls being arrested for solicitation.

My nephew was shopping for a truck over the summer and he was emailing me everyday these "unbelievable deals" that he just had to wire $5000 to this guy in the UK and he can have a 2005 Toyota Tundra delivered next week.
After I told them it was a scam no doubt without even reading the ad or email they didn't believe me.
I told my sister let his dad (Her Ex) shell out the money if he thinks its such a great deal.

I wouldn't buy anything on craigslist you cant go look at and pay for in person.

If it sounds like too good of a deal it is.

I love CL. I've bought and sold all kinds of stuff and never had an issue. I'm with Jason (and this is why I'd never ever buy a car off eBay) - if I can't see it I'm not paying for it until I can.

I've tried selling my SLR Camera on there and get the same stuff.. just list LOCAL SELLERS ONLY and ignore the rest.

Ive sold alot on craigslist (mostly surfboards), bought a few things too. Ive had probs with scammers replying to my ads, but you just simply dont respond back.

I totally agree i wont reply back if i was the seller but im the buyer so im repliing to ads that are posted. What a joke.

Im looking for a commuter vehicle for myself. I was thinking a small suv like a 1999-2002 gmc jimmy or somthing like that. ANy recommendations??? It has to have the following ....

4 wheel drive
Automatic
4 door

How long is your commute? Are you real concerned with gas mileage?

If it were me - I'd go with a 4Runner or Jeep Cherokee (not Grand). Both are durable as hell. The Jeep is going to be better to work on and get parts.

I was actually looking at the jeeps as well and they arnet bad trucks but for what i have seen in my price range there garbage. Either high mileage like 150+ or need more work then i want to put in. Anyway thanks for all the help. I will continue my search.

I love craigslists, Ive bought and sold many things on there, havent had a single problem yet.

I agree with the above statements, if its too good to be true, it probably is. I avoid anything that looks like a commerical seller or a scam whenever I can. I hate the fact that car dealers sell on that site.

My inlaws have a 1999 4 Runner Limited. It has 119,000 miles . let me know if you want more info on it. Im in south central pa

jeeps are really dependable my dad has a 01 cherokee limited it gets decent gas miliage espicially on the highway and its powerful last year of the boxy style ones. i would definitaly check them out.

Craigslist is great and I advertise there for my flooring company and I get alot of good jobs from it,I also bought my typhoon on there and it was too good to be true,ive sold alot on there too,but there is alot of scammers that post fake crap but its easy to spot out after the return email..Same with the fake buyer they allways say im interested in your item,without being specific..

I sold $300,000 worth flooring products when a huge store closed local and gave me the key to sell everything,I sold it all in 4 months all on Craigslist..

I also sold 14, 05 and 06 colorado trucks on there in less than 5 days (@ $4,500 each made it easy)and also 3 flatbed trucks...That place is great if you get used to the other BS..:tup:
