Break in pass

I have about 200 miles on my engine, so I went to a private rental for some fun. I ran 3 passes, all very close. Was messing around with competitors more than I was focused on the truck, but it was a fun run event

best run.
R/T: .18
60': 1.697
1/8: 7.718 @ 87.6
1/4: 12.209 @ 109.9

no burnout (street tires)
2psi launch
5600rpm shifts
93 pump gas
13psi, 12deg

peace out

Re: Break in pass

12 degrees of timing is also super conservative. I gain 4 mph in the 1/4 mile mph by upping my timing from 14 to 19 degrees.

Re: Break in pass

I wanted to reply sooner but the forum wasn't cooperating.. Great times for those mild boost and timing settings...

Brandon, did you get to look at your headers? Were they glowing at that timing?

Re: Break in pass

No, I didn't get a look at the headers. They do cool down ridiculously quick compared to manifolds.

I have a streetcar night 9pm-1am coming up this weekend. I will try to push 17psi on pump gas. Last year with the iron heads I kept the boost at 15 on pump gas with 20deg timing. On the aluminum heads I could probably push a little more timing, but we'll see what the plugs say.

Last Sunday was also a scorcher in the middle of the day. IATs were at 120 in the burnout box and 150 crossing the line. 150 is were I start dumping fuel to cool it down. Late night runs will yield better times.

Re: Break in pass

I switched from tweaked L35s to untouched Brodix -8s.

This also dropped my CR from 9.5 down to 9.0

Did your manifolds/ headers bolt up! Did you use strait plug heads. I was considering brodex for my syclone I have ported vortecs.

straight plug.

to make them work I had to use a vortec-modified stock intake (from RPM). a set of offset rocker arms (from Jesel). a set of perimeter bolt valve covers (from RPM).

and this small modification to the passenger header collector
