Brake setup question

Re: Brake setup question

I already have the C5 z06 rears and stuff, but no parking brake. Is there a way to combine the 98-02 F-body rear disc with the parts I already have so I can use a parking brake? I wasn't worried about not having a parking brake because I've never used it in the 9 years of owning my truck.... but I'd rather have it and not ever use it than not have it at all.

Without first hand experience I hesitate to say for 100% what will work, but I believe if you were able to source just the backing plates off a 98-02 F-body you possibly could use your existing parts.

The only thing I'm uncertain on is how the parking brake is setup for on a C5. The rotors "should" be interchangeable but the parking area will be the only question. Take one of the C5 rotors to a parts house and compare the parking brake area to one another and see if they are similar and the offsets are the same.

You're nuts man....

You just got the best answers above for 1/3 of the cost of that kit.

Plus that kit comes with solid rotors, the ones on Camaro's and Corvette's are vented, so you'd be spending more money for not as good of parts.

Re: Brake setup question

I was able to pick up a complete set of C5 Z06 calipers and rotors for $400 shipped off of a corvette forum. Bought the Renz kit for the front. Had a friend of my dads make the caliper bracket for the rear, and Renz had some rear brake hoses made up for them. Turned out nice. I can have him make another set of brackets if you want. Think they were somewhere around $100.

It seems the bracket from kore3 doesn't fit the rear. Any chance I have the wrong rotors? They are rear rotors for a c5 vette. Is that what you used? Any chance I could get a rear bracket from your friend? The kore3 doesn't have enough space. It mounts on the outside of the axle. See below

That's weird. Mine mounts on the outside of the axle tube as well. As far as I know, the rotors are C5 rears. They came with the whole kit I bought off of someone on one of the Corvette forums. I might be able to get a rear wheel off my truck next weekend to get a better pic for you. We just bought a house and the already cluttered garage is starting to accumulate moving boxes.

Thanks. Any chance your friend can still make the bracket if I need it?

I'm sure he can. But looking at your other thread, would a bracket like mine still work on your rear end?

I'm going to attempt to use the brackets I have. I plan on modifying them to mount on the inside of the axle housing. I'll let you know how it turns out

Re: Brake setup question

Ended up cutting the bracket I had and moving it to the inside, then spacing it with some washers...
