Re: Bowtie Block

Bowtie blocks are stronger, have steel caps instead of cast.
Can be bored much more than a stock block.
There are more differences, like oiling,& more than just that.
Only drawback is that they cost a lot.
Bowtie block is much better,it's stronger & can handle more HP than a stock block.

Re: Bowtie Block

These are both Bowtie blocks...

10185051 Cylinder Case, (V6-90 Degree CNC Machined)
This block was revised in year 2000. It is fully CNC machined from the 10134388 casting. It features siamesed cylinder bores, priority main oiling, 8620 steel main caps, the three center mains are splayed 20 degrees on the outer bolts. It featurs 2" OD cam bearing at all four locations. Deck height is 9.025" and comes finished bored at 3.980". Maximum recommended bore is 4.150". The block now features wet sump oiling.

25534333 Cylinder Case (V6 90 Degree CNC Machined)
This "CNC Machined" V6 90 degree iron block was designed for sprotsman racing. Same as block 1018551 except it has nodular iron main bearing caps with grade eight bolts.

The siamesed cyclinder is a big added strenged to these blocks.

Re: Bowtie Block

everything is discontinued so you have to get lucky and find some old inventory or something used. We've already searched the GM parts dealers nationwide for bowtie blocks, and the only thing left a year ago were some 18 deg head castings and a few aluminum blocks. We bought and sold all the remaining cast iron blocks for around $2250 a year and a half ago. I would expect a new block to net over $3k easily today.

So what are future plans when all the blocks are gone??

Re: Bowtie Block

Click, Enjoy....

>>> 2007 GM Performance Parts Catalog <<< .pdf file you will need Adobe.

See Page 286. GM Part #25534333. (no picture but it is printed in the catalog.)

If it is in their fancy catalog it should be available. Why would they print it in the current catalog if it wasn't available?

Find out for yourself.

Re: Bowtie Block

So does that mean that I could go to the dealer and buy a Bow Tie block? I get a supplier discount so that would be awesome.

Nope the only thing you can get (from my dealer) is the aluminium block and a stocker. All of the number in the gm performance catolog have no avalibility

Re: Bowtie Block

I can confirm that there is none available in the country from GM. I went to the dealer I go to which is a GM Performance Parts dealer and gave them $500. deposit and told them to find me a block. They came back with nothing but...sorry, none are available and we searched everywhere.

I guess they print stuff in their catalogs just to tease us!
