Re: Bowling Green, Kentucky

**Might** try to make it with either the Sy or the Ty, whichever is running better. 512 mile drive from the Milwaukee/Chicago area. Its doable.

Ive driven from Nashville to Chicago in a SyTy. Its not a bad drive at all. More than doable.

Light weights.

Seattle to KC 2000 miles over a few days.

Louisville to Austin Tx, 1000 miles or so non stop in a sy. Anybody that has met me knows I don't fit in a sy very well either.

I dont' want to hear any "It's too far" excuses from ANYBODY east of Colorado.

I'll even offer up to fly out and help with a drive in, if it's really that big of a deal. Anyone in the "Far-West" area want to come but don't want to drive? Cover my food and the gas on the drive, and I'll cover the plane ticket to fly out and drive your truck in to nationals, and then back home when it's over!!!

Now there is no excuse about it being too far!

I went to KC in 2000 with cheryl and we drove 17 hrs there( had a layover in nashville to eat lunch with jimmy @ cracker barrel) but then we decided to caravan back with the northern crew and man that sucked a$$ due to the fact it took us 24 hrs to get back home.

Now daron and dean and another guy went to KC that same yr in a sy! Dean rode all the way there under the cover in the back of the sy. note these guys live about 3.5 hrs closer to KC than i do. Somebody else was caravaning with them that they meet up with somewhere in middle TN and had been following them for a couple of hours and this head popped up from under the cover. Now that's hardcore:tup:.

so just think a sy is somewhat cramped but tstill the seat do have padding!

I rode around with Daron and dean @ KC all weekend and went street racing and for those few hours of riding in the back of the SY was hell on me the next day. I can't imagine doing it for 15 hrs. Not to mention it was hotter than hell that weekends too like 102degrees.

Re: Bowling Green, Kentucky

I still say the drive to Great Bend was the crappiest drive ever. After you passed KC everything looked the same. It was flat and endless. It was like the Twlight Zone or something. On top of that I had tnsyty's uncle sleeping in the passanger seat. He was supposed to be "keeping me awake".

That's one hell of a deal! OK, but SF to KY is 2,337 miles one way and my Sy has no AC, Cruise, or Radio at this point:rotf:

You might want to put some restrictions on that deal:lol:

No problem. I drove my little S10 with similar equipment from KY to Las Vegas in one shot a few years back. If you're that enthused to show up at Nats, but don't want to do that much driving, I'll volunteer my time. And just think, I'm probably as close to a certified Sy/Ty mechanic as most on here, so you know your truck is in good hands should something go awry on the drive....Hell that's only 33-1/2hrs at a 70mph average!

I have shorts and T-Shirts. I have MP3 players, power inverters, and portable speakers, and I have apparently far more enthusiasm than most think!

Good gracious can you imagine the smell after 33 1/2 hours of dobreak in a black truck with no AC in the summer time.

Jeff, 'Louisville to Austin Tx, 1000 miles or so non stop in a Sy' how big is the gas tank in a Sy, or are you pushing 50 miles to the gallon?

Roy, see if you can get someone to loan you one of those XM radios. If I had one I'd send it to you and you could send it back when you got home.(hint, maybe someone has one to lend). BUT, the cruise control---2300 miles with your foot in the same position, and then you have to get home that way too...

I really appreciate the offer, but if I do end up being able to go, I'll fly in. It's not the drive that bothers me, but the time that is a bigger concerning factor.

Re: Bowling Green, Kentucky

I agree with you, but the 'crappy' part for me was not entirely the scenery. I think most Americans were still in shock over what happened to our Country the day before we left, and that kind of set the mood for the entire event. Was really subdued and somber.

It was a somber mood for sure. I dont know about everybody else but it was good to get away from home for a few days and reflect and to be there with my SyTy brothers made it even better.

Crappy drive for sure. I guess he thought his snoring would keep you awake?

Everybody there except the pig agreed.

Can we con Beech Bend into letting us set up Auto-x?

Re: Bowling Green, Kentucky

We can try(I am pretty sure we could) but we will need Someone to bring cones, Set them up and workers to man it.

Get Dabney to set it up.... the GB one was fun, I thought.

Can we rent cones from a local highway rental place?

How many folks do we need?

I'll get Jeff Scott to talk to Dabney. See if he is willing to do it and how many cones and workers he will need.
