Without pissing myself off and listing everything I have done, let me just use the word "everything" to get rid of knock. The entire fuel system and igntion system has been replaced as well as multiple chips tried, including guys like Dig working with me.
Here is a thought:
I went to Paul Shwabs the other night and had Tunerpro and all the WB crap hooked up to the truck...the chip, which Dig did, looks good, so the bin is fine. We take a few runs adjust the boost to 20psi and its running around like a bat out of hell with 0 degrees of knock at 20psi...i was spaying a mild/moderate amount of alki.
the only way we could even get it to show know, which ended up being 3 degrees max, was mashing it from a 60mph role....it knock, then go away. I say this, because it shows that I was able to get some knock to show up.
We make no changes in anything, except we left the 20psi in the tables in the chip since it was running so well...nothing else was changed.
I should say that when we hooked up all of Pauls WB stuff, we used his ecm because he has it all saudered in to that particular ECM.
I put everything back together, get home and the next day, having changed nothing, my knock is back via datamaster...it knocks so bad, i actually got 18 degrees of knock retard
I got my head out the window, and you can't hear a sincel ping, ding, dong or anything....not a damn thing is autible, even with such severe knock.
I got to thinking and all I can think about is how the ECM's we used were different...datamaster shows a ton of knock, but tunerpro shows non at all...the differences between the programs are the ECMs they are reading/hooked up to.
this tells me, logicall, that my ECM is perhaps the issue I have been trying to track down for years...it would explain why nothing I did to any parts of the fuel or ignition system would change anything.
Does this seem logical? I guess what I want to know is how many people or how common it is for the ECM to actually be the knock problem? I know the only way to know is get another one and try few of them out, but i'm not exactly by many other members at this time (heading back to NY tomorrow). I'm just curious what people think.
Thanks.
