Anybody run an A1000 fuel pump?

If so, how do you like it? I am contemplating it with a sumped stock gas tank. This is one mod I really want to do before the end of the summer so if anyone has any experience with it (especially in a daily driver), Id love to hear about it.

A friend of mine has one on his LSX powered 67 nova. He drove it from green bay to little rock without a problem. Then when he left little rock it died like 20 times on the way to springfield.Course it was about 90 degrees out but he had to stop and put ice on the pump to get it cooled down. When he got to springfield he drilled holes in the trunk floor and mounted it in the trunk. Problem solved! Basically its a great pump but it does not like heat at all. Maybe this was a one off problem? It has been great all the other times hes driving it. And he drives it alot.

I've seen them heat up also. Paxton, Aero, SX and Weldon pumps. Just had a 440 Cuda on the dyno and in only 90 degree heat the SX pump was overheating after a few runs. Large fuel cell is your friend on a lot of these setups as the fuel stays a lot cooler. He only had a 5 gallon!!

Run really good wiring and relays.

I know of a lot of people that run them with great success. The key to any of the externals is to keep them away from heat and preferrably in a spot with decent air flow. I'm planning on going with the Aeromotives as well. I've been thinking of running them submerged to help out. I know it's not necessarily needed with the A1000's....but I'm sure the controller would help out big time.

A lot of people have good luck with them. I took one apart about 3-4 years ago that was bad to look inside. I went with Weldon.

Its over kill for what you have. And for how much you seem to street drive your truck I would think you would want something a lot quieter.

Can they run E85 through them? Jeff, Id love to get the Weldon but I don't have $700 for it you know? I thought I would just get an inline set up and when I get the money down the road Id get the Weldon.

I think 2 walbro's would serve you better. I just didn't like what I saw inside the aeromotive. I know when I was in school aluminum and steel don't last long rubbing against each other.

Your thinking new weldon here. I paid $400 for mine, had to change out the bearings for a cost of $20 which gave me several spare bearings also.

The weldon is loud though. But on a good note I like having a fuel pump with more HP than most honda's.

I agree. I run an A1000 on my AWD Ty with 84# injectors. You have to keep them cool and run plenty of fuel in your tank to keep them from burning up. Mine actually runs very quiet and is mounted on rubber mounts.

You can not beat a 225 intank pump for our trucks. If your are to a point of needing a monster fuel pump for a monster build then noise and pump rebuild expense are the least of your worries.

There are more than one reason for why I want an external pump. 1, I HATE dropping the tank when something goes bad. 2. I will be running a much bigger turbo within the year. I'm looking at the Stealth but think maybe the GT35R as well. 3. I want to be able to run E85 with out any problems. I can only afford to do so much at a time so I would rather get things like this squared away first.

Depends on what injectors you plan on running.

Walbro makes E85-ready pumps. Talk to Ron at apeusa.com.
You will need a couple of them, at least, to get the job done.

The used weldon is a pretty good deal, all-in-all.
