Re: Amps!

I think it really depends on what the rest of your system is and how much you're looking to spend.

I would focus on good speakers first and foremost, along with speaker placement (e.g. q-form kickpods), before worrying about the amps.

for example, I think milbert amps are nice but it would be idiotic to get one and use it with some $39 speakers from wal-mart.

so if you want recommendations why don't you tell us more about the rest of your system, or your budget if you want help with putting one together.

Wish you were closer as I am looking to sell it. It will not fit anymore with my roll cage and I don't want to mess it up trying to redo it. Box and amp-rack (Amps face foreward and can be seen when seat is down) goes in as one piece. Cover is easy to take on and off. JL fiberglass subwoofer plate custom painted to match interior. The tray below the screened area is for crossovers, etc. The square opening on the right (below the gauges) is a Alumapro 15 fared Capacitor. I also have an new-in-box six channel PPI amp that fits the front amp rack.

I plan on keeping the tail gate amp system for a new build.

WOW that is great. I appreciate it alot. I have everything stock and what i want to do is the following.

upgrade the front and rear speakers.
a new cd deck (radio) maybe even if possible go with the lilliput 7inch monitor with touch screen. Add alittle BLING hahaha to it.
I have a carputer from a friend if i want to go that route but not to sure yet.
If i dont go with the lillput maybe something like this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-7-In-Dash-VGA-Touch-Screen-Monitor-for-Car-PC-GPS_W0QQitemZ9708435442QQcategoryZ67771QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

A rear sub woofer box with maybe two 12 inch woofers.
The box i can make myself my father is a carpenter just as long as i get the correct dimensions. As for the brand maybe cerwin vega,,,,,still thinking.

Two amps, one to drive the 4 stock location speakers and one for the sub.

Now these are just my ideas it can all change. If i can hear your ideas that would be great.

I have had plenty of cars with systems but had them professionaly done, this one i want to do myself. I just want it to sound good nothing to blow the windows off or add more weight then necessary.

Well thats it if you can get back to me that would be great.

thanks again for your help and every one elses.

Re: Amps!

Pioneer has two current DIN 1.5 for GM vechicles. One is DEH-P47 (it think these are the correct p/n's) and the other is DEH-P77. The 77 comes with a remote control. I think they are listed @ $300 for the 77. I found mine on e-bay for 1/2 that + shipping. I also purchased a WIRED I-Pod adaptor that will allow the head unit to control the I-Pod functions. I know others have these installed with pics. I do not because I have yet to get this installed.

Re: Amps!

I like Soundstream and Precision Power. I had two 10" Soundstream, one Reference 500 and one Reference 300 amps in my 76 VW. It was 10 years ago, but the sound was awesome. If you like quality go with 10" subwoofers.
