Alignment specs

Re: Alignment specs

If the a-arm bushings are worn you'll have trouble because of the limited adjustment available. Also there can be wear between the bolt and the cam, might be worth a look there.

Re: Alignment specs

I did an alignment on my Sy last week and I used modded specs, but to my own preference. I also put in a .5* degree pull left to compensate for the road crown (and for some that do not know caster will pull to the most neg and camber pulls to the most positive). I am also running Sportmachines tubular upper and lower arms and coil overs. The truck is going to see mostly street and a very little track use, so i did not want to go with more neg camber due to wearing the inside of the tire

Caster RF +6.5*
Caster LF +6.0*
Camber -0.2*
Toe 0.0*

Re: Alignment specs

Bushings look mint at first glance, almost thinking they have been done, but will take a better look.

Re: Alignment specs

Never seen a syty only able to get 2 deg of caster. 5 is the minimum I have ever seen. Are you sure they did the job correctly if the suspension is in good shape?

I like 5-7 deg of caster and a bit negative camber (due to fact our trucks wear outside). I don't add more to one side for road crown, but agree that is a preference item.

Re: Alignment specs

All I can do is assume that he did it correctly. Everything moved freely according to the tech, and all was tight.
Suspension appears to be in good shape. No apparent damage on truck, and paint is original so I don't believe it was ever wrecked.

Re: Alignment specs

OK so it looks like there are a few mixed opinions on this. I'm going to get mine done this weekend so I'm trying to figure out which one I should use ?

Code what?
Before anything! Assure you don't have any worn front end parts. It wouldn't hurt to grease everything before. And request before and after alignment spec sheet, NO EXCEPTIONS! This will help you identify the quality of alignment they gave you and any problems that arise after.

I personally would keep camber as close to >0 as possible while getting the most positive caster while keeping the left .5 a degree more positive than the right. Set toe zero or slight negative.

I follow this regardless of ride height.

Re: Alignment specs

My front end is completely new across the board. One thing I'm not sure about is I noticed the torsion bar bolts are not the same on each side. I remember reading at some point that they may not be the same exact thread count on both sides. I am wondering if I should have them reset these two sides before doing the alignment. I know I had someone put the torsion bar mounts in and not sure if they adjusted them correctly or if these are the just stock settings that have never been changed.
