ABS delete and Steering shaft upgrade in about an hour...pics of the fun!!!

Decided to toss on the steering shaft while I had the wheel well out for the ABS delete kit I got from Aaron(fivetodrive). Aaron dropped by during his lunch break for a few pointers on the steering shaft install that took about six minutes and then decided to do the ABS delete kit at the same time. Before I did this delete kit my truck would maybe hold 6-7 pounds of boost even with new shoes in the rear......after the removal I decided to do a test brake boost run....the pedal dropped to the floor after a few quick revs in neutral and wound it up to 18 psi and let her rip...what friggin difference!!!

If anybody is on the fence about doing either one of these two low dollar upgrades I'd say do it! :D

That one fitting going to the rear, just above the frame rail, wanted to leak a bit on me. Keep an eye on it, it's kinda outta sight when the wheel-well is in place. Sure frees up a bunch of under hood space, glad I did mine as well.

If I am not mistaken, the same thing happened to Tony last year. I think he just had a rough time tightening it though. An extra teaspoon of elbow grease got the job done. Nice to see you doing stuff to your Sy Ry. Now when are you going to come down here and race me in it??

I'm not rolling down there any time soon, but I'm going to hit truck fest this year......maybe I can bust my stock DP/mitsu turbo Sy into the high twelves....maybe..lol. :rotf: I do have a certain charged LPE tbss(colorado fastest tbss) to race again since now I can leave with more then 4 psi....we were close last week, but if I can leave with 18 psi like yesterday he's phucked...lol!

I'm also going to do that colorado track day at Bandimere, but will prolly be rolling in the Z....you should bring the Ty up.....unlimited runs for 80.00...not too bad!

Damn, thats quadruple what I pay at PMI. Is the TBSS you're talking about silver with black GS stripes on it? If so, he ran a 13.4 at PMI last year, I wouldn't sweat it much.

Ry368,

Ready to get my original steering shaft out but how to you access the lower bolt for the original shaft. I can barely see mine.

Thank You,

Rick

Thanks I got it already. Didn't realize the bolt was hidden under the plastic cover under the heat sheilding after prying up the plastic cover.

Yeah guys.....for anyone doing the ABS Delete Kit (making a bunch this week.....I promise!), I'd recommend changing out that rear union if needed. It's a 1/4" inverted flare union and is available at most places. It's not required to be changed (which is why it's not included in the kit), but I like to know it's new and seating properly.
