Small update:

Had #1 Injector stick open 2days ago.... I had all of them Cleaned and flowed. Not sure why it had a brain fart and stuck open.. but no harm done realy.

It gave me time to paint the pipes yesterday and install a second O-Ring on the injectors to help them seal. I also cleaned up the wiring and re-located the Coil over to the fender area by the ECM. I'll do the final tune today and let my wife get back to driving it.
It's got over 6000mi on the conversion to turbo. HPTuners continues to be a great tool now that I am usto it. There's still alot more for me to learn on the program.
I'll post pictures of all the pipes painted/wiring streightend up and engine bay clean today... Hope it enspires some to make the leap into a boosted 4.3L.

The drivers side pipe is close to the hood insulator so it rubs a bit... but it's a beater right? :)

It's a marine intake.

Yep..... Exactly what Jimmy Said... (how's it going dude)

I got it from a Guy on E-bay. Complete... fuel rails,injectors,upper/lower intakess/throttle body MAP sensor.. It was brand new. 400.00. You can't use the Marine throttle body since the throttle connections are different. Map sensor on the boat intake has both MAP and temp sender. I used the stock 98 Sensors. You could wire up the Boat one but would need a pig tail.
You'll need a set of junk yard Multiport injector connectors and solder them into the wires that fed the junk Spider injector. Cooling lines are easily hooked back up. Nice intake! It's heavy (cast iron)
Nice option for someone who wants to dump the spiders. ;)

OMG!!! i think i just messed myself!!

i would have killed to have this intake 3 years ago, for my 97 SS. i fought fueling problems with the spider injectors........untill i opened up the intake and turned up the fp 20 psi...bam the truck moved!!

wait...i could just use this intake with vortec heads on my sy.......hmmmm...

fyi...ls1 style throttle body is the same as 4.3, but has the extra lip on the top for clamping.
you just use the 4.3 throttlebody shaft, and linkage.

Re: 98 Turbo Jimmy Update.. Pic's today.

with the fuel lines on one side and the dis hold down bolt off to the side looks like a much easier intake to work with.

That's nice information to know! Cool!

I had to do somthing and I started doing some research and Came up with this Marine intake. It is very very nice. I like it alot and it's resonable price wise.

The wireing is simple. 12 wires to splice and it's very easy. Our truck has 141,000mi on it and it's loveing 10psi on a daily basis.
Gota love this stuff!

Re: 98 Turbo Jimmy Update.. Pic's today.

The link to the injectors you have there is for the newer design with out the poppet valves. You can pick that up from GM or Advance/Autozone all share the new design. I bet the same manufacture makes them too.
That style is superior to the poppet design but share the same size (23.1lb/hr) It'll help in a stock application but still won't solve the fuel demands of a boosted 4.3L.

Ours is still driven daily and beaten on often. It might be the only thing of ours running this summer with the way gas prices are... The Typhoon and Camaro might have to sit. :(
Thanks,
Scott~

Scott, A few questions for you if you don't mind. Is this the same setup as yours?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCURY-MARINE-4-3-BOAT-INTAKE-MANIFOLD-NEW-motors_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ124104QQihZ024QQitemZ370071808922QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

What changes did you have to make to the engine harness to run this set up?

The reason I'm asking is this, I have to change out the intake gasket on our 2001 GMC Safari van and was thinking of changing over to the 4.3 Marine intake.

Re: 98 Turbo Jimmy Update.. Pic's today.

Hey man looks great. Another suggestion I have, you might want to think about moving the maf on the pressure side of things. My procharged setup works better on the pressure side than pre blower. Greatly depends on if you are running any type of BOV as well.

Yes.. that's the exact intake I have. (I paid 500.00 for mine :( )

It will definatly work for you no doubt. The only "wiring" change you'll do is the 12 injector wires. If you pick up pig tails from a junk yard that are GM they will even match the colors of the stock harness! Love GM for keeping things the same!
You'll have some extra work in adapting things. The EGR if your in Cali would have to work. You'll have to fab somthing up with a flange and tubing to enable that. The Marine intake does have a passage.....Just not a direct bolt on like the stock one has.
Drill/tap for Brake booster (3/8 pipe or 1/2 pipe with 90 and barb fitting)
I normally grind out the drivers side accry bracket (under the a/c compressor) to remove the bolts and slide the intake out. Saves alot of time.
You'll need to adapt the fuel lines... .3/8 and 5/16 High pressure fuel hose up to the external rails.
Make a gasket for the stock throttle body.
The stock Marine intake Injectors it comes with are 24lb/hr. The stock program should work with those no problem.
You can e-mail me anytime or call with questions. np.

In all the turbo car's I've done. Unless you've got a good run of streight pipe just in front of the MAF if located on pressure side it tends to have weird variations in air flow through the MAF. Air swirling and not going into it evenly.
When it's pre-turbo it tends to come in more naturaly and with less turbulance. Some vehicles are more sensitive than others but I always put the MAF on the non pressure side just for the drivability problems I've seen with pressure side MAF's. ;)

Another thread I made with more information located here: http://www.blazerforum.com
(Picture of wiring conversion for injectors)
The Injector wireing go's as follows:
Keep in mind... there is power to all the pink wires with ignition on.
The ECM Grounds the other side of the injectors to make them fire.

#1 injector: (E) Pink and (F) Black
#2 injector: (H) Pink and (G) Green/Black
#3 injector: (D) Pink and (C) Pink/Black
#4 injector: (J) Pink and (K) Light blue/Black
#5 injector: (B) Pink and (A) Black/White
#6 injector: (L) Pink and (M) Yellow/Black

If you take the main injector plug out of the top plenum where it go's to the spider injector.. and take the plastic cover off the top of the plug to expose the wires/connector you'll find the letters that I labled above go with the ports on the connector. Take 2 off at a time (for one injector) and go from 1-6.

Typhoon937: Ours is a 98 Jimmmy with 4.3.... So yes.. it'd be a perfect fit for a S-10 as well.

Raist: You mean the orange color? It's the newer GM Sunburst Orange used on the Avalanche trucks and several other newer GM's If you want the paint code I'll look it up at the shop today and re-post it. I do everything in base coat clear coat. (Just like the outside of a car.)

Re: 98 Turbo Jimmy Update.. Pic's today.

yeah it is the color of my old z, just did not know if they had it in a spray can or you bought it from gm in cans and spraied it on with a gun? but if gm sells it in a spray can that would be cool if you had the code.

Re: 98 Turbo Jimmy Update.. Pic's today.

It'd be easier on a 2wd for sure. Less crap to deal with.

I used all her old stock stuff off her Typhoon. (bought the stock manifolds from sy/ty member) since I'm still using the stock manifolds on her Ty.

It'd need a good set of sticky tires for sure. If you build any boost on our big moose of a 4dr truck it just blows the tires off. And squeeks off 2nd gear every time. Lol.
