Thanks for the info. This blow by described in the guide is exactly what i am seeing. This engine has fresh rebuild plugs and papers for when it was rebuilt. I just can't believe that this is happening. I think i am going to tear it down and do what i had originally planned to do from the beginning. Assuming that i am starting over what would you suggest for the bottom half?

Not yet we had to delay the clean up due to engine problems. i am getting too much blow by. we started taking the truck back apart again last night. The whole front end is disassembled and the motor comes back out today. I am going to rebuild the entire engine and swap heads like i should have done in the beginning. I am going to build this thing right and i don't care what it takes I just want it right. Depending on the condition of the internals i may need some advice as to what pistons, rods, cam, etc to use. And if you have a link to a "How to convert the Vortec Heads" that would be great.

This is my project photo journal. I've not started the truck up yet. Right now I'm visiting my children in
Florida. Once I get back home, I hope to turn it over and do some tuning. Got my fingers crossed.

Our projects have alot in common. I' ve worked by myself on mine. You're fortunate to have at your disposal expert help. Imports are the thing here where I live. Puerto Rico is well known for it's rotary powered cars. Hope we can share info in the future.

I have started tearing down the motor and its looks like its gonna take about 2 weeks to complete the rebuild and re-installation. While it is apart is there any suggestions on the stock turbo? What can be done to enhance its performance? I had planned to upgrade to a larger turbo but with the cost of the rebuild i think i will stick with the stock unit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Update: Got into the motor last night and sure enough 2 rings were cracked which was cause of the blow by. Everything is in pieces now. I will be updating with more build pics soon and i will give a list of the mods at that time as well. Special thanks to Waller for all of his help.

Do you think the 97 ECM and knock you experienced connect to this problem?
If I were to bet on what caused it, this would be my first place to look.
the 97 just isn't setup to read boost. Yes it can be fooled somewhat and get to run but....

We have done a lot to correct this issue. My only hope is that what we have done will solve the problem. If not, I really have pissed away a ton of $$$$. Worst case scenario I will go to the stock SY ECM, but I really think the 97 can work.

Thanks I really appreciate your input. I know you guys really have gone through every issue imaginable with these trucks and any advice given is truly taken to heart. Waller has been extremely helpful as many others. Anything that you feel would help to prevent the knock is appreciated. I really want to try to keep the 97 ECM, but if is not possible then I will change it out.
This project has set my secondary dream back a while which was to actually own a Syclone, but I will get one. I also realize that my project is not necessarily the most popular one on this Board, but as you can see I actually have done what I said I was going to do. And now I must say that the majority of the members have started to warm up a bit to it and are interested in its progress. Thanks everyone and I will have some great build pics up soon (STORM wherUb
