those # look impressive but 8.24 164.53 the # dont match i would need 2 see video

They match almost perfect. Not sure what drag circles you run with.

Old general rule of thumb is to take 1320/ET to get MPH. In our case he gets 160mph.

4 mph off that general rule. You can take MPH/1320 and you get 8.0X, still right there considering he is taking things easy still.

Re: 8.244 @ 164.53

look at robert his running 160 8.85 my freind has a s2000 with a supra motor is running 8.60 at 165mph .your are running a 4000pound car 164 at 8.24 make no sence. i being goint 2 the track for along time by the way . but if u said that whay u r running then congrats/

everyones et and mph is not going to match, too many variables. I've seen top fuel cars back out at half track, still run 8 sec 1/4 at only 100mph:2cents:

Re: 8.244 @ 164.53

Robert is still AWD and have problems putting the power to the ground from the start, he will tell you that. So he has turned the power down at start, able to turn it back up at end of track hence the higher MPH.

Supra's well we all know they make no power until 100,000 rpm. I suspect your supra friends 60ft times were 1.5 range or so. Mike is 60ft in 1.2-1.3 big difference.

Dyno chart of a supra

800hp sure, but at 5k rpm it makes about the same HP as a stock syty motor. Not dogging supras just totally different type of horsepower.

Compare that dyno to a similar motor to what Mike has. 5k rpm he is over 1k hp mark. Much more horsepower under the curve.

If you go to say this page http://www.nhra.com/points/national-records.aspx

you will see NHRA national records, we can assume these guys have a well setup car to use the power efficiently.

A sample of 8 second slips.

F/D 8.00 166.1110/04/09 Al Ackerman - Saddle Brook, NJ '05 Pro Start
F/ED 8.06 163.4709/13/09 Steve Szupka - Willow Grove, PA '00 R.E.D
C/T 8.16 163.7507/10/09Mike De Palma - Glendale, AZ '00 Chevrolet
B/TA 8.21 162.7804/25/09Rick Brown - Lebanon, OH '00 ChevyIndianapolis, IN

So actually Mike's MPH says he should be running a 8.00 run, maybe even in 7's.

Your buddies supra if setup right would be 7.8 car.

Roberts truck, remove AWD install a true drag only suspension be high 7's capable.

I already posted why I don't have the video of that run but I do have a video of a run 12 days earlier at the same track, same boost (20.5 lbs), same lane and simular weather, just ran .04 slower ET and .4 less MPH to the 1/8th mile.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yGRe7K2uZA

My truck doesn't weight 4000 lbs and it has a very efficent drivetrain. :D

Try this. Go here http://www.tciauto.com/Products/TechInfo/Calculators.asp#0

Put in my racing weight 3000 lbs and my MPH 164.53 and it will tell you it takes 1042.8 RWHP to do that. Now drop down to the next calculator and enter the 3000 lbs and 1042.8 HP and hit calulate twice and it shows and expected ET of 8.225 for the MPH of 164.5. I am close at a 8.24 and can probably match it if I get my launch boost a little higher as I launched at 14.5 psi for that run.

While you are mulling that over, do a little math and you'll see that 1042 hp at a pressure ration of 2.39 (20.5+14.7/14.7) is 1471 HP at a pressure ration of 3.38 (35+14.7/14.7) or 35 psi of boost, assuming that I have enought turbo on it to provide that HP and I do. Now plug in 1471 HP and 3000 lbs and you get 7.33 @ 184.5 My truck will not go that fast because it's not possible to launch it at full boost on 10.5" wide tires. :myclone: Want a race? :2cents:

Re: 8.244 @ 164.53

congrats man that thing is moving. And red typhon said the word to let you know that he has no clue about racing "supra" they are good for two things dyno's and eating rolls.

Six-is-Enough

Use to do a little Boost
Re: 8.244 @ 164.53

Also note Robert 60' 1.4x that is almost .25 slower just at the start. If Robert could get a 60' as low as a 1.24 he would pick up a .5 second of et by the end of the track.

Re: 8.244 @ 164.53

That would bring him "neck to neck" with a lighter RWD truck, then his achivement in going as fast as he does with AWD sticks out even greater..

besides still cruzing the streets....... legaly...

Nolan's dyno run :D can't wait to see it on the 1320 in the spring  nothing like Canadian built HP

Re: 8.244 @ 164.53

Loaded up my junk and went to a Test-N-Tune last Sunday. Made my 1st full 1/4 mile pass since I started testing. 21 lbs of boost got me the 8.244 @ 164.52 with a 1.244 60 foot and a 5.291 @ 130.37 1/8th mile. I was pleased so I turned it up a little for the next pass but she spun and about 60 foot out, shook the tires and rattled my teeth! I had a slower 60 foot at 1.249 but made it up and ran a 5.254 @ 132.04 for the 1/8th and lifted. The truck has a lot of potential left as I haven't done anything except adjust the tire pressure. :D I can see some mid to high 7 second passes in the near future, if the weather holds out.

Unfortunatly my brother got a real nice video of the end of his finger so I have no video to put up this time...

PS The Motec data logger show a 0-60 MPH time of 1.099 seconds in 50 feet even. :myclone:

1.099

Man, if you could've waited 2 more months, you could've revived this thread on it's one year anniversary. :D

I'd planned on bumping it myself pretty soon with even quicker times. Haven't been out since I broke the transmission last year but now that it is finally starting to cool off, I'm looking forward to it.

Re: 8.244 @ 164.53

Congrats! First thing that comes to my mind Mike is a past thread and the word "dingleberries"

It's so funny how all car sites/forums are the same....When someone achieves an ET mark most people say "congrats" and a few are always doubting and questioning. Never fails.

I can assure everyone on this board that syclone 383 is in a class of its own.......
