I agree. There is no point keeping it all secret, because it all comes out in the end anyways. I've been asked to keep some of the details of my build confidential by a couple of the people involved. I respect that, but otherwise its all fair game. As for your build being sold like candy, I think it just seems that way because you are fairly close to the limit of what can be done to within the confines of the
Modified class at the Nats. I picked that as my limit or where would it end? I always said if it wasn't AWD it isn't a SyTy in my books. And Bowtie blocks are still a grey area for me so the rules of the modified class seemed to suit me. And I think there are a few other people that share my view (like you apparently) hence there is a small group of us pushing the envelope so to speak.
Anyways here is a comparison of our builds:
stock block - My stock block has a partial fill on the bottom end to beef it up considerably and has been cryo'd, as are all the hard parts in my engine.
pistons - I am running cryo-treated JE SRP pistons. 565gm for the TRWs vs 496gm for these. I was going to run 443gm JEs but the builder thought they were too light (read not strong enough).
stock crank shot peened, nitrated - Mine is cryo treated and nitrated. Not sure about the shot peening.
Eagle rods - Ditto. Cryo treated. I was gonna go Carillo but the builder told me they aren't anywhere near twice as good as the Eagles to justify double the price.
Mc Coy stage II heads - Here's the bulk of the proprietary stuff. Very trick. As a start we cut up a Vortec head just to see what we were up against.
Stokes cam - Haven't settled on the cam just yet. See the notes on the rocker arms...
Stock tranny - More proprietary stuff here.
9/11 - I am going with a different convertor with a custom billet stator.
stock T case, rear, and shafts - Stock T case for me too. Don't foresee any problems there. Stock diff with an lpw aluminum rear cover. If that lets go I'll go to something beefier. I'm having custom chromoly driveshafts fabricated. No one in the know has any faith in aluminum.
72# injectors - I'm going to start with something in the 83#/85# range.
SpeedPro - F.A.S.T = SpeedPro...Ditto
custom A/A by AR Autosports - I'm running the DeQuick Dual Air to Air. Got the DeQuick aluminum radiator with dual electrics too for good measure.
T72 BB .83 hsg - I am planning on running a P-trim T-72 with a dual ball bearing Garrett center section and .85 PTE Syclone exhaust housing. May try a T76 once this setup is all tuned. No one seems to get any good streetability from that turbo though.
ATR DP - see above...
HKS WG on DP - see above...
DR's on stock rims - BFG DR's on ZR1s. 315 rear, 275 front.
1.6 rockers - waiting on a final decision until the heads are ported, flowed, and we have some numbers.
