Re: 1992 Syclones?

Pretty sure there were, at one time, plans to continue the model into 1992...so promotional materials were produced. But at some point they pulled the plug. I'm sure Merk et al will offer more details.

Are the Challenge trucks considered '92? Might be. I'm too lazy to do a search right now.

Depends on what you call 'production'.... < 5 trucks isn't what I'd call production, personally.

It's really too bad GMC didn't pull the trigger for just one more year...

Thats Scott's Syclone challange truck. I dont think it's a true VIN'ed 92 but a pre production Sy with added 92 parts and paint scemes??? I think T-Bone has another challenge truck that is currently red. Paul Z.

There was a white n gray syclone here in ca. orange county. It was a girl driver she worked at a hometown buffet in Anaheim/garden grove.

Paul, mine wasn't a challenge truck. It was owned by the Triad Corporation (who oversaw PAS) and driven by the President (Mike Piccobello) when it was originally white/grey. In 1993, it was repainted red by PAS for Mike's son. It was used in the marketing film for the 1992 line which never came to fruition so it is in reality a pre-production 1992...not a production 1992 truck. I love the red but have entertained thoughts of taking it back to white / argent grey. I am eyeing a red Syclone on ebay right now which I think I want but my Z06 should be resting in the garage near the first of August :dunno:. If I pick it up, the pre-pro red Sy I have now will undergo a face-lift and look like it did in the marketing video. I had it sold but talked the guy out of buying it .

I believe I saw your truck when it was white/gray in Michigan back in 92. ?? I bought a new Syclone in May of that year but back in Jan I saw the white one in the Troy area. Also met the Prez who lived in my hometown more than a few times at night at a local Shell station filling up. Once was a Syclone engine Bravada, another time the 4 door Typhoon. Saw the Typhoon for another couple years with his wife and or daughter driving it. Then it dissapeared.

Re: 1992 Syclones?

so it is in reality a pre-production 1992...

nope, it's a Prototype 1991 Syclone, http://www.sportmachines.com/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=Prototype+Concept+Syclone that was at one time converted to 1992 specs. And this isn't a full list of all the Prototypes and what they were used for.

And info on here is wrong, http://www.sportmachines.com/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=92+PreProduction

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice truck. Especially for the 5k you paid for it.
