16" wheels lighter than stockers.

Hey guys,

I was wondering what wheels are available that are 16" w/the same or close to the same offsets as the stock Sy/Ty wheels that are lighter?

If there is,,how much do they weigh.?

Not looking to spend a lot,,,,I'll even paint them black if there ugly as long as there lighter.

A 16x8 Trans Am (2000 model) wheel with an oem 245/50 goodyear GS-C is ~39-40 lbs - I would think that's probably about what a stock sy wheel weighs plus/minus a few pounds.

SSR and BBS wheels for BMW 3 series (16lb each), may need spacer for the rear, M3 rear might fit with spacers. :dunno:

better yet, get bmw 5 series for the rear, no spacers.

forgot I had this as well, the sy/ty wheel wieghts listed here are pretty damn close - http://www.superhonda.com/tech/wheel_weights.html

for 8" wide rims
BMW 3 series are about 38mm offset, stock is 41mm
BMW 5 series rear are about 11mm, stock rear is 13mm

Bolt pattern same , bmw 5x120mm , gm 5x120.65

I think 1992 and up bmw are about the same offset, double check the hub center will fit.

The GM of 120.65 does not make a difference?

Inch conversion for the front ,I come up with 5.63" & for the rear,4.53"
Does that sound correct?

Billet Specialties street lites:
17x9.5 @ 19.0lbs
17x11 @ 19.8lbs

Thier website says they're a little heavier though.

4th gen 16x8 F-body wheels are something like 6lbs lighter than Sy/Ty wheels. Offsets are close but you will need to use spacers in the back.
