1/4 mile shake down run...

I took the TT Ty to the track Friday nite for a couple of passes to see how it would respond with my street tune and chassis setup. The local track had their monthly street car nite so the track was not in the best condition to hook up. I made a rollout first run with no boost and footbraked it, shifted at 5,800 rpm and ran 12 lbs of boost. It was the first pass ever in this truck so I nursed it a little to get some solid data.

R/T... .455
60' ... 1.910
330'... 4.862
1/8... 7.180
MPH... 105.95
1000'... 9.180
1/4 ... 10.859
MPH ... 135.97

Everything felt good and the data was solid so I pushed it a little more on the second run.
I turned the boost to 15 lbs (the data recorder showed highs of 16.5 - 17Lbs) and came out on the transbrake at 2,500 rpm. I sat on the line a little to bring up the rpms, thus the slow reaction time. I also shifted at 6,500 rpm (trapped at 6,900 rpm). The result was a complete roasting the tires out of the hole and again shifting into second. I peddled it a little both times before it hooked. It did pull hard when it finally hooked as you can see in the mph.

R/T... 1.247
60'... 2.001
330' ... 5.059
1/8... 7.321
MPH... 114.28
1000'... 9.189
1/4... 10.736
MPH ... 148.66

Everything felt great other than spinning in first and second. The truck stayed straight and the brakes worked perfectly. All in all it was a good first time out and gave me some good tuning data and suspension information to work on.

:popcorn2: I can't wait to see what it does when you get the suspension dialed and really start to push it.

Congrats John! I'm sure you're more excited to drive the thing than we are to hear about it....but i assure you we're all dying to see what it'll do at its best.

I definitely want a ride in it once its at 20+ psi!!

Sept 18th, slick tire test and tune at ORP. You should come down and run it here, and the track is usually prepped pretty good. Last one I went to last month, Billy Gliddin had his outlaw 10.5 GTO there and ran a 6.70 without issue.

I am sure Billy Gliddin had his car dialed in. He could have probably got his car to hook at my local track that nite. I have a long learning curve ahead of me with regards to setting up a pro type suspension. Luckily I have some good friends that have been through this stuff foor many years....hoping for their help.

Is the slick tire test and tune available for street drag radial tires or is it as it says?

Muncie. It was a last minute thing. Wasn't planng on going, but things just worked out at the last minute. I even had to buy gas at the track, because I didn't have time to get any locally. I just kind of loaded and went.

You can runs yours no problem. There are even some street cars there, not many, but they are there. If you decide to come out, let me know and I'll come out too. It's $30 to run.

A truck that runs as good as it looks, and proves it. It's amazing what great manners this beast has outside of WOT, it is definitely not a track queen. In fact, it wouldn't be out of the question to see a 1969 (?) 502 Camaro, John's Pro Ty, and my Sy at 1am tearing up the local streets :D.

Way to go, John .

No video !!!! How dare you..

Some friends were at the track that night. I will see if they have any video. I know they were taking some of their rides. I am hoping to make a private track day session in a couple of weeks with a local group. If I can make it and the weather holds I will get some videos.
