    Sy body swap has commenced!

Well, I finally said screw it and decided to go ahead with swapping my blue body onto my second truck's working drivetrain. I've slated 3 weeks for this project, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to take that long (famous last words). DAY 1: Had shell towed to friend's back yard. His...

    AZ tunner needed

Re: AZ tunner needed Where in AZ are you located? I'm in Scottsdale, and I've tuned Sys using FAST... If you're anywhere close I'd like to take a look at it to see what I can do. To get it really dialed in you're going to need to set up some dyno time or pick a day that you can take it to...

    Spark plug backed itself out?

Re: Spark plug backed itself out? Never came across properly torqued plugs backing out as of yet... Not unless you happened to be working on a Lightning. :) Beer + SyTys = a necessary evil... Although such a practise should only be used with truly PITA procedures...

Drivetrain swap vs. cab swap...opinions needed.

Re: Drivetrain swap vs. cab swap...opinions needed. Thanks for the insight. It's not too much the HOA that's been giving me grief, it's the damn realtors. All of the times that I got the complaints were when the truck was covered in the driveway. I actually had a talk with the city officials...

Drivetrain swap vs. cab swap...opinions needed.

Re: Drivetrain swap vs. cab swap...opinions needed. To get the blue truck back to stock would cost probably 3-5 thousand, but to do it the way i want, multiply that by 10 and add a couple more years... The truck is as stripped down as one can imagine, if it's not made of metal or welded to...

Re: Drivetrain swap vs. cab swap...opinions needed. SILENCE, INSOLENT FOOL!!! :D ...the one that runs can technically be classified as "in pieces" anyways... :)

Drivetrain swap vs. cab swap...opinions needed.

I've finally become sick of driving around in my stock-ish faded black Sy while my beautiful newly-painted blue Sy sits in waiting. My black truck is completely functional, where as my blue one is totally gutted (no motor/trans/dash/wiring/etc., just axles and steering..). My desired final...

Anyone have the Top Gear review on the syclone?

Re: Anyone have the Top Gear review on the syclone? The guys at finalgear.com have been converting all their old taped Top Gears into divx and putting them up as torrents. They've gone back as far as '89... You can find them all here: http://www.finalgear.com/shows/topgear/ Tragically, I've...

New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!!

Re: New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!! As is the case with most automatic turbo cars, there's two types of runs. One you'll do for bracket racing and one for your best ET. I know it's hard to ignore your RT in a race, but with anything short of a full-on drag car you'll pretty-much...

New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!!

Re: New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!! Don't waste your money on octane boosters. Swing by the Home Depot and grab a couple gallons of Xylene (in the paint department) and throw it in your tank. Two gallons will be safe to use with a half tank of gas. Be sure to get a big funnel also...

New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!!

Re: New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!! I got out there right around 8:30 and stayed until about 9:00. I didn't see any trucks out there. I'll try to make it out earlier this Saturday if I don't have to work late.

New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!!

Re: New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!! Sorry, if you would like to be inducted you are welcome. :) I was just rattling off the people I've known and worked with for years... I should make a set of qualifications for becoming a "certified AZ SyTy nut". They might go like this: - Owned...

New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!!

Re: New Ty owner in AZ... Awesome site!! There's just too much information that I'd like to share with you to do it via typing. If you can get the chance we need to arrange a meeting at the Pavilions car show (Indian Bend & the 101 in Scottsdale) on any Saturday night. If you can find a...

Post wax shots in the heat.

Re: Post wax shots in the heat. Monesq: Is your Ty an AZ truck? It would be my assumption that having these trucks in a completely rust-free non-hostile environment would allow the stock equipment to last longer than most. My guess is that the air suspension setup was kind-of an afterthought...

Decent High Octane Fuel in the Valley of the Sun?

Re: Decent High Octane Fuel in the Valley of the Sun? Chevron on NW corner of Cave Creek and Union Hills sells 100 octane... 56th St. and Bell sold it a long time ago, I don't know if they still do... Other than that, you can pick up whatever type of race fuel you need from the Sunoco truck...
