What else should I do with the engine out????

Removed engine last week to reseal,and so begins the nightmare.Engine had been opened up on 2 seperate occasions(truck has 23,650 miles,13,053 miles when purchased from shop below).1st:0.020 under crank,0.030 over pistons,2nd:broken connecting rod,Rod replaced but TRW forged piston damaged by crank was re-installed.I won't even get into how poorly the re-assembly was(by the way MECH TECH Motorsports put it together before I got it).

My solution to the problem:RPM nitrided crank,Eagle rods,SRP 0.040 forged pistons,ARP main,rod and head bolts.Still chosing a camshaft and debating the Vortec Head swap I planned on doing in the beginning of this adventure in spending$$$$.
This is hopefully the last time this engine comes out,is there anything else I should do before it goes back in?????

on a stock block i was told that 0.040 was hanging on the edge of cracking your cilinderwalls

Well as you just said, If this is the last time the engine is comming out then ust bite the bullet and do the heads. As for cam, the Comp 412 is a nice choice. Depending on how much bolt ons you are going to do a 415 or 422 I believe are also nice cams (Comp Cams)

i've seen someone with 60 over.

anyway, gm tech, i have the same bottom end build as you, do you have 4bolt mains? a 415 or 422 will be a great cam, i choose the 415 cuz there was already a chip for the cam and injectors i have out, but i'll be getting the auto tune stuff too. but i do recommend doing the vortecs as they will vastly help in performance, help reduce knock and maybe improve gas mileage due to better flow and combustion chamber design.

Thanks for the advice.I think your right,swapping the heads is the better route.The plan is to stay within stock boost,I do need a cam so maybe a milder grind would work best.If possible I'd like to up the injectors and get a chip but my budget is already been busted so I'll have to see how mad my wife gets before they get purchased....

Jump in engine compartment, make turbo noises, have a friend take photos or video.

Motor mounts, steering shaft, ZQ8 box, clean and scrub, paint everything flat black, replace the purple wire for the starter.
