Wide band sensor

I spoke to a few people about the location of the sensor. I have the regular sensor in the Stock location. I used my old stock down pipe for reference of the sensor. Installing the WB sensor I am not sure If I want to put it in front of the current sensor- About 4-5 inches off of the turbo, Or am I required to place the sensor further down the pipe.

I have never installed a WB. The instructions say 4-5 inches off turbo down pipe. Just trying to verify the proper placement


I put a Yellow X where I think it should be. The red is option 2, further down?

I ran mine 36 inches down from the turbo at a different angle than my stock sensor. If u want a pic I can get it.

Why not just replace the stock narrow band with the wide band and just modify the ECU to accept the wide band output? That would be much cleaner and easier.

Run it behind the stock location...the further the better.

Don't put it where the yellow x is move it 36 inches down from the turbo, then your truck still looks stock up top and the wideband isn't near all the heat. --

then if you want the sensor can be taken out and capped with a plug! Lasts longer too!

Why not just replace the stock narrow band with the wide band and just modify the ECU to accept the wide band output? That would be much cleaner and easier.

How do u modify the ecu?

ATK pic would help, I think further down stream it is. I will measure 36 and see where it puts me. Thanks for the quick response everyone

Put it right where mine is and its easier to get a o2 bung welded there! The exhaust shop will thank you and do it for cheaper! I wish everyone would respond as fast as I would to people!

How do u modify the ecu?

The instructions were on Dig's website, but that seems to be gone. You don't actually modify the ECU, but use the narrow band output from the new o2 to input into your ECU. Mind you that this is for a PLX brand o2, and I have not yet used closed loop tuning in my truck.

I ran my wire from my Plx kit up across the fire wall from my pod on the Ds and then down the PS using a wire holder , it worked great , and looks clean. That was my first thought was keeping it away from the pipe when I ran it down. If u want a pic i can walk out and take some more.

Further downstream is better = less heat, heat kills sensors.

Do not put the sensor at or near the bottom of the downpipe, that is the incorrect place to install it.:2cents:

that's what i did.

however you'll need a code 59 or turbotweak chip to run it.

I got this all hooked up, I welded in the bung all nice and neat. Only thing I am not getting is... Ever since I got truck together about a year ago it never ran correct.


truck idle- gauge reads 10.4- Something super wrong. Even with a TUNE or CHIP I am a strong believer it should be no-where-near that measure.

I replaced the coolant temp sensor not too long ago- I read in my manual RICH conditions and no real indicators.

Any suggestions

i had a faulty coolant temp sensor i bought from advance auto cause an over rich situation.(scanmaster read -200 degrees)
i got another and it went away like magic!

Did you forget to piggyback your stock chip correctly to your aftermarket chip carrier? Not having the stock chip or installed wrong will cause a rich condition.
