Yeah the sy is alot of fun. I have to admit it. I have to put a new block in it regardless though. You know how it goes "always wanting to go faster". Im sure when the buick is done the sy will feel pretty average and will lose my interest. For the price of making a sy run a low 10 I can almost be in an 8 sec buick. ( I have reciepts to prove this , for both )

Not to mention the fact that there are a "bunch" of 9 and 10 sec street cars around my area. C5's / F bodies / Moostangs all stroked with a ass load of juice. This was and is the primary reason for a stg II buick.I hate thinking to my self "I hope I have enough". Plus I dont feel like being another stupid ass thirty something guy driving a C5 with NAWZ. Can we say "SMALL PECKER" Right now though Im up in the air on what to do with it. It does look really cool to have the syclone as a tow vehicle in the pits, NOT a hauler ! Well I guess it does haul tires for the fast cars.

These trucks are cursed
well from personaly experience... dont get air bags in the back to aid in launch... my truck already had them when i got the truck, and i filled them up to about 30psi, before i got to the line, and then launched... after the run was over i had 0psi in the bags... i walked around back to see wtf was up and the launch had ripped the plastice right off the top of the bag... and my 60' was still the same as if didnt use the bags.

Speaking of air bags I have a story I have to share

I was leaning against a buick that had just done a wicked burnout in a parking lot. About 3 minutes later the damn thing blew up. ( the left airbag )This is in a dark parking lot at around 1:00am. The son of a bitch sounded like a .45 went off. ALL of us dropped to the ground. That had to have been the closest I have ever come to complete cardiac failure.

I meant rear wheel drive powerglide opposed to stock, my bad.

I believe that there is no good reason to tranfer power to the front if you can obtain traction with the 2 rear wheels. The parasitic loss and the weight add up, and aren't really needed unless a true daily driver. I admit driving the Sy in the rain is the most fun, but at the track the mid 1.7 60 foot times aren't really impressive. A stock GN with drag radials on stock rear wheels can pull a mid 1.6 with a stock turbo.

I must be in my own little world here, I spank GN after GN on the street, and I mean fast GNs, well much faster than me anyways. These guys pull crazy 60' times (1.4's-1.5s) at the same track I race at, then we line up at our local spot and the're not even close. Is this a good reason for transferring power to the front?

The statement you made about GNs pulling 1.6s with a stock turbo may have happened, but its a far cry from the norm. There's a stock turbo syclone in Minnesota running mid to low 11's, so why bother upgrade to a PTE?

It depends on what the GN are running for tires and rear suspension. If its setup right you should be able to atleast hang with a sy 0-30mph then after that its all over, in the GN's favor.

I have some 1.67's in the 60 on a stock truck except for tq converter. With the mods I have now my 60's are inconsistant at best. Some in the 1.60 some as high as 1.87.

Stans GN aint fast (low 10's at 134) when he hooks he is going kick your 122mph azz, all kidding aside I have yet to see any fast RWD car hook on the street.

You must have some shitty roads up there, as we have plenty of 9 and 10 second cars that hook very well. Of course we usually go to a concrete bridge for a launching pad but it's still the street. Central Florida is notorious for having some of the best street races anyhow. I've seen plenty of "wheels-up" launches on "street tires" to believe that OSW doesn't hook any better than the highway.

Wow thats tractin! MN roads must suck (and Vegas is way worse I can spin the tires on the 4cyl camry here) for example Stans low 10 second GN spins the tires up to about 80mph (on big slicks) and I have seen:
a 9 second turbo mustang go sideways at 80mph during a race
a 8 second mustang shift into 2nd and spin aroung 140 degrees slide and go up on 2 wheels

The best story everyone in MN talks about this Vega its built to run on the street bla bla bla well one night he comes out everyone is talking smak he says yea Vegadeath always hooks I built it to hook on the street but there isint any thing fast enough to race here, so one of the bikes step up, they line up and the Vega smokes em for the ist 100' and gives up.
