My truck has a M55HV,and it has been on there since the rebuild back in 2004,and has about 25,000 miles on rebuilt motor, is it the same as the M55a,housing wise.

It's a different housing. You should be ok.

I was not doubting you at all chris. My problem is this. My engine builder has been doing motors for almost 40 years now and is very set in his old school ways. I called him like you asked to see which pump he wants me to run. I told him there was 10 and 25 percent over stock. He freaked out stating you don't what you are talking about and there is no 10 or 25 percent pump. I left it at that with him as he is very stubborn and i did not feel like continuing the arguement with him. After he puts the pan on and can measure for push rods i am taking the engine back from him to complete it myself. Anyway this is why i am coming back to the syty boards for the answer. What infomation do you guys need from the builder to decide what pump to run?

keep in mind if you have an m55 in the thinner casting ...its only an issue IF
you have solid motor mounts and lots of tire shake.

my burnouts have extreme tire shake on the front end from the awd.

for everyday street use your probably ok, but bumpy roads and solid mounts I really couldnt say.

if you had the thicker casting side by side to the thinner you'd be scared to use the thinner style.

An old school trick is to use the stock pump & put a Holly jet under the pressure regulator spring.
Bumps up the pressure about 10 PSI IIRC.
