Re: What convinces you to go or not go?

we have other things we like doing as a group at NATS besides just racing. And after you've been to enough of them, you realize that a 4hr track rental is plenty long enough to suffice the crowd. Even when we have a large truck turnout, we have a tough time keeping the track filled for 4 hrs without a good amount of down time, even without any failures/leakages.

it would be great to have you and your truck and your business all there for everyone to meet and see in person. And i'm sure i speak for more than just myself that i'd love to watch that truck rip down the track, and also maybe attempt the autox. Don't let one or two spoilsports posting negatively scare you away...theres positive people well outweigh the negative. Plus, the pissy pants people don't show up to the events anyway, so you can basically ignore them.

Is there going to be a PISSY PANTS award this year Renz? When can we nominate people?

A full four hours? I might be able to get in MORE than 12 runs!
This is the big chance to tune without worrying about a ticket, or spending hours in line.
But that not why I go to Nats. It's to see everyone again, have a few beers, take some pics, and just see all the SyTy's and what's under the hood.
By the way Renz, the SS motor mount heat shields from a couple Nats ago came in handy this rebuild. Thanks!

For me, it's mostly the overall cost that keeps me from going. Hotel and registration aren't a huge deal, but when you figure in the travel costs and possible breakdowns, it can add up. I've been to Chicago and Detroit gatherings, so I don't mind driving. It does seem a little more risky the further the trip goes from home though. I'm also a little wary of pushing the truck too hard that far from home, so the racing events aren't a huge draw for me.

I like to see the things people are doing with their trucks (I haven't been to as many events as some others, so there's still new stuff for me to see), but it's mostly the people. I love people-watching in general, and with SyTy people that I know online, it's that much better. I'm glad I met all the people I did at previous meets.

I'm not sure if I'll make it to Nats this year. It's a 500 mile/7.5 hour trip each way, so it's a decent undertaking. I've got my annual Canada camping trip the week before, and I'd like to be able to go through 0187 for any minor issues before a trip like that. I've never been to a Nats, so I'd love to go though.

I'll have to see how the summer goes. I'd love to come hang out with everyone, and I think a number of people would like to see Razzy too.

The possibilty of seeing some of the fastest trucks on this site (like below);
[Hint: None of pictures are repeats of owners or trucks]: :tup:
Can publish info on each if folks are remotely interested.

Quite a few O. G.s in those pictures. Interesting to note a number of them are 2wd as well. I truly wonder if we could ever expect to see even 20 percent of the above trucks at one event again. What is nice to note is the current new crop of fast candidates we have today. It would also be interesting to see if the same holds true (20 percent or better turnout) for Nats.
