Very poor showing at the track last night

I was disgusted! I ran a 14.6 at 91mph with a 2.1 60'. I have the run on tape and will host it up tonight and post it. THe truck is all stock except for a Shurflo. I only got one run as I was there really to help Mike get his SS in the 9s. But still I thought 14 flats or high 13s. My 60' suck! Ok done venting.

not strong enough to push the throttle in 100%?
Ya know I was thinking that! Seriously I think I need a good tuning and the truck could go for one too!

I dunno the history of the truck or your knowledge, but just asking some basics -

how hot was the truck?
is your IC working?
did you log the run(s)?
did you race in D or OD ?
what was your launch technique?

Tired tranny with slow shift into OD could produce that MPH, that along with a 2.1 60' COULD equal that ET.

Or it's down on power ;)

I've seen mid 14 second trucks go to mid 13 second trucks with the right driver, is all I'm saying.

Brian, my knowledge is limited and very new. My launch technique was to break it and build boost to about 5lbs (stock gauge) and then go. This was the ifrst pass I ever made in the truck. I raced in D and the IC is working. I had it running in the staging lanes to cool it down. The temp was up as I made a long haul to the track. I tried to let it cool as much as possible. I didnt log any runs as I didnt have a DM with me.

As far as history of the truck, i just bought it in September, it has 110K on it right now. It has felt alot better on the street than it did last night. It needs a good tune. I am hoping to go over alot in Pitt with some knowledgable guys. It was the 60' that boggled me. I was looking for at least a 1.9. It was very humid and warm out last night but I didnt think it would hinder me that much. I may just need more track time.

It could be that he has the Ultimate Chip with the arrogance flag set in it.

Nick, what the arrogance flag does is make your 60' really blow and send submliminal messages to you asking to post on the ubb saying that the chip sucks ass.

I decided not to head up last night because it was too warm out. Let me know when you go up again and I'll bring DataMaster. I know everyone was joking about it, but I have seen 2 SyTys where the drivers had the floormat under that gas pedal not allowing 100% TPS. If you have a long drive there and your truck heats up, go to the water hoses in the parking lot and hose off the lower I/C. I do it when I get there and after every run. It really helps. E-town is closed next week for the Super Nationals. Maybe we can meet up in a few weeks.

I ran a similar time last week but that is because i am an idiot. 14.7 @91 mph with a 2.1 60' my problem was that i had staged N' revved to get the brake down and then shifted into drive and the shift made my truck creep past the staging line and i had to back it up and get staged but by that time everything was ready to go except me. I basically started from an idle with a reaction time of 1.01 :p i was racing a 5.0 mustang and he beat me off the line with my reaction time but i still managed to have a better 60' time than him and ended up beating him by 1.1 seconds. I only had time to make one run bc my friends had bought movie tickets and we were running late. I plan on going back friday to get a better time. This was my first time ever racing at a track and i was clueless on what i was doing.

P.S. I was wearing my very sexy bicycle helmet from elementary school.

We will help you tune that truck, don't get too down. I knock .4 of my low mileage Sy with tuning and I still had some issues.

On my Ty, I used my Gtech, since the track was close when I put it on hte road. The first run out, I ran a 6.6 0-60 and 15.3 @ 89 mph with 1-2 psi launch (brakes wouldn't hold any more), my truck shift 1st to 2nd at 3500 rpm. I didn't do any more 1/4 mile runs, but I did fool around with my 0-60 times I was able to get 6.1-6.2 secs with normal shifts, which still sucks for a Ty. I did more tuning (fixed brakes) ran 5.6-5.8's. This was all with an ATR chip. I fixed a few more little things and used the stock chip, now I am able to get 5.2-5.3 0-60 times. This is done in 20-30 degree warmer weather than my 6+ sec time. Now that the track is open I should drag it to the track to see what it will do, but I am trying to sell it so I don't want to break anything else. However I would be happy with 14.6 @ 91 (but not the 2.1's 60') considering my Ty has 161K miles on the original motor and turbo.

Nick,

If you do have an ultimate chip, pull up the .bin in promgrammer, then go to these three Addy's:
0x006B
0x006C
0x006E

Change their values to False.

Here's a picture to help you.

first time at the track with a low stall tc, and bad boost control.

last time at the track, knowing how to deal with the low stall tc and fixing the boost control issue.

You can get there, its just a few runs, some dedication, and a couple of split knuckles away.

Ted,

When do you go to the track, and what track do you go to around here. Haven't really researched tracks yet around here. Maybe next time you go, I can come along. Would like to get a baseline run with the Sy. Especially before I get some of my bolt-on's in the mail.

It's weird to see you guys post that your brakes won't hold much boost, my truck will hold as much as I have the balls to give it. Makes for great launches though  Hopefuly I have killer 60' times.

sy112 tommorrow (friday) i am going to go to the tracks to get a better run there are 2 strips around here Heartland Park in Topeka which is very nice and holds huge NHRA events annually with top fuelers and funny cars and then there is the local dragstrip Kansas City International Raceway (KCIR) which is off nolan road about 20-30 min drive. Call me later tonight after 8:30 and we can meet up tommorrow afternoon make a couple adjustments using turbolink and then we can go take some runs at the track. It opens at 6 and i was planning on getting there about that time before it gets to crowded. I'll PM you my number.

Am I reading that timeslip right as a 7.5 second reaction? .500 being perfect? Not like it matters, but it would be funny to see a car be half way done before the other guys leaves the line.

Is there anyone elso in the KC area who wants to come along with Ted and I? It would be pretty cool to have a couple more go with.

I am overly excite, first time to the track in sy112 and plus I just bought a digital camera to record our runs on. Does anyone have a site they can post some videos for me, I don't think my sharemation would handle the load.

I plan on going to Home Depot tomorrow and getting some Xylene just to make sure detenation is not a major concern, but my numbers have been looking pretty good. Hopefully we can get all the pass' logged on Turbo-link for review.

Hey Don,
they sell 100 something octane at kcir so instead of xylene you can just get the higher octane their or use both. I will probably just run using pump gas.
