I built this for my Ty back in 2002, worked for the time but I would certainly do something different these days. If I recall, its a 4.44 cu ft box with two 16" long, 4" dia ports, holding 2 Vega 12"
The amp enclosures on the sides also served as "utility boxes", the one on the right concealed my relocated battery, the one on the left where the spare used to be, still held the factory jack and tools, but also some other tools, spare parts, fire extinguisher, etc.

Thats a nice setup Morgan. I was originally going to run my old MTX 12s but they require so much enclosure space so I stepped down to 10s. I am planning on running a second battery as well as doing an ad244 alternator swap. I calculate I will be running 2000 watts RMS.

Sounds like a pretty decent setup. When I redo the setup in my truck, Ill be stepping down to a single high powered 10" sub, the days of big stupid heavy systems have passed :lol: at least for me.

I have a single Alpine 12 with a kicker amp under the front passenger seat and I love it. Just a best buy box and it is nice for when I have cargo (because I haul shit a lot in this thing....) and need to remove it but I have yet to actually have to do that.

I have an ol JL 12w0... Came in a sealed JL box. One day I had to take out the sub, and in the box it was filled with soft white pillow stuffing?? Why is the box filled with that instead of being hollow or ported? It hits hard so I'm not complaint about the sound but just curious as to why they did that

Might end up removing the spare. This will allow me a bit more design space. Will the original Ty spare clear LS1 brakes front and rear? Ill probably just pick up a full size Camaro rim and tire and leave it in the garage, and I also have some sort of towing available from Hagerty. Not that I go far from home anyways.

Fiberglassed rear to utilize as much room as possible. This box was tricky to fit the 2 deep 8's and the long ports. The amps are mounted on the passenger side. This is in the g/f's blazer.

Im starting to get some ideas. The last system I had was in my G body and it was infinite baffle 12s. I went out and listened to a few different subs today. Mostly to decide on if I want to do a ported or sealed enclosure. Definitely want to go ported, So that ups the cubic foot of the enclosure. Something like this, rough but you get the idea.
One of the reasons I did infinite baffle in my cars was I needed the space. Mount the woofers to the back of the seat on a board and you can still pack a cooler, tent and camping gear and not have to worry about removing the sub box to do it. I dont need that much room now, but I would like to have a small space back there, just for a couple bags of groceries. I like to carry a small tool box and a set of jumper cables, flashlight etc. Thinking about making a compartment space for storing such items. Ive also entertained the idea of fabricating small enclosures on either side, building an amp rack over the 2 and be able to have a space to lay a spare in between for long trips.
Something like this, rough but you get the idea.
