Typhoon mention in Autoweek mag

5-16-05 Autoweek review of the new BMW M6. Referring to how firm it shifts:

"The only previous such shifts we recall (other than the M5) were in the late GMC Typhoon—it wasn’t an adjustable shifter, it just kicked you in the can at every gear change, which might have contributed to that vehicle’s eventual market demise."

lol.. whew.. glad to know thats why it was cancelled.. Its certainly not due to lack of sales or the fact that there was a body change vcoming in 94.. Thats good info :tup:

they know whats up. the reason GMC stopped production is because everyone and there mom would have got one by now....

In your recent article about the new M6; M&M: The new M6 is like the M5, only better by Mark Vaughn, he qouted:

I'll be sure to add that to the other mythical reasons on why GM/PAS stopped producing the GMC Typhoon and Syclone. Next thing you know, I'll be reading how how they were produced with a 3.8 Grand National motor....oh wait... thats right... they werent!


Keep up the great work AutoWeek, but I need to go adjust my TV cable for even harder shifts on both my Syclone and Typhoon now.

Will get the 1st test drive, once the AW staff gets the M6 in Michigan.

Will let everyone know its shifting capabilities. BMW make some awesome gearboxes though.
