I'm curious what true trac you are putting into the 7.2? I'm working on doing a true trac conversion right now as well using a Dana 30 carrier.

Well i know of another Fast Truck that after installing a locker would aggressively dirve all over the track, took it back out and the truck was easier and better to drive. The rear gets 65% of the power which is plenty to keep the truck moving.

You will break parts with that in the front end. We were going low 9's in a syclone and i did all the video of the passes.

P.S. Nice truck. I would like to see some pictures of the engine bay if possible.

mine drove the exact same way w/o the locker installed, actually itwould drive much worse on the highway which is where it spends 99% of its time,so at this point the locker will stay,at least until i finish up the tru-trac project.so far the only thing in the fron end that has broken is the drivers side cv joint, wich is $35 an 1 hour to replace so i dont mind having that be the weak link.thanks for the compliment you can go to my fquick page to see pics of the truck or if you do a search on here there is a complete build picture set and there is a walk around video that shows the engine bay as well

It's just a six

Does it have a steering damper shock for the front end.?

Maybe that might help?

Re: TT LSX TY back to the track(new best)

it is a handful:lol:but i like a challenge, yes i did put the front locker in,the only time you can even tell its there is when the dr's are on the truck, with regular radials on it,it drives just like stock.I have a project going over the winter for a tru-trac in the front diff,i am currently gathering the parts to get started on it...if anyone has a spare front diff case they would like to donate you will be the 2nd one to get this set up

Thanks for the info. Could you use a tru-trac out of a jeep Dana 30 or 35? I dont have one to donate but i applaud your drive for doing something different and look forward to the results. I agree that 99% of the time the lock-right would work great, but when both wheels are biting its going to be a handful no matter what. I would think the tru-trac would deliver similar traction with the weight off the front end as it launches, and want to pull to the sides as well.

do any of the sti-evo guys use any lockers for their high HP track cars?

it may have the same or similar results but i wont know until i try it;)i am also working on a actual posi unit for it with clutches.not sure what the vo guys are doing ,dont really follow that crowd, but i think they may have a computer controlled wheel/power delivery system....mabey i could adapt that:lol:

Hey Danimal are you still running the stock rear end?

He had a stock 12 bolt he put in and broke that a few months ago. I believe he rebuild it with strong stuff before his last track outing.

Im not sure...didnt even think about that. I need to ask my suspension specialist.
:myclone:

I only ask because I'm pretty sure they don't, if you could find a set, you would make me very happy.

I thought the closest was 3.50. If you went up one size tire on the rear it might work.

I think Im going to go with a ford 9".

i did put a 12 bolt in it and yes i did brake the stock 1970 posi unit, however since the upgrade diff i have had no problems and that includes a 1.35 60' time, unless you are planning on making alot more power than i am i dont think a 9" is nessasary.i was going to run a ford 8.8 which they dont make a matching gear set for either but it could be done with the right tire sizing,or you could run 3.73 gears instead of the 3,42's
