syclone worth

what is the value of a syclone with no engine or drivetrain lets say in GOOD condition with some exterior blemishes and excellent interior? also, is there a market for such a thing?

Yes, there's definitely a market for what you have.

Value? Depends on exactly what's all there. Probably between $1,000-$4000.

not first or second option really. i planned on buying a crappy sy just to use the engine and driveline in a chevelle wagon (i like to dick with cars) but got anxious and bought a pretty nice low mileage truck. as it turns out it has become my daily driver, my other vehicles are a 68 chevelle ss396 and an 86 pickup with a 6" lift; both are fun but not really daily drivers.

problem is i am getting married and hopefully starting a family so a sy doesn't really fit into the equation anymore. over the past year i have accumulated a wealth of knowlege and parts for this thing, the engine runs incredibly well lightly modded and i REALLY like the truck... it seems most other people on this forum have driveability issues with their sytys.

anyway i was thinking about trading it for a TY of similar value or ripping the guts out and setting them up in a 4 door jimmy. that's why i posted the question. thanks for the responses by the way, any ideas will be appreciated.

I wouldnt chop up a SyTy. Why dont you buy a AWD Bravada and get the drivetrain out of it and use a LS1 or something. It would be cheaper and more reliable. :2cents:

i thought about that too. the reason for using the sy stuff is because i have it. i got a really sweet deal on this truck; i think the guy that sold it to me was retarded.

i have been in this arguement before. first of all i hope when you say "chop up" that it is a play on words. i have a very nice garage and tools and i wouldn't be destroying anything. second (and my point) is that i really don't care that this is a rare truck. what i see is a dollar figure and bang for buck. i could just go out and buy a new WRX, put $10,000 into it and smoke a stock sy but i would be paying way more for the same results. i bought this truck because bang for buck i couldn't have spent $7,000 on anything else (street) with AWD and as much HP and even come close. 3 years ago i pleaded with my buddy to buy a TY for about half of what he spent on his V6 mustang. now he has a 5 year old POS mustang worth about 1/4 of what he paid for it. i could go on for hours.

i hope i haven't offended any die hard sytyers.

i say do what you want. it's your truck and you paid for it with your money. if you want to swap the drivetrain into something else, go for it. i do think you'd be better off with a v8 in the wagon simply due to the weight of it, but if a v6 is your gig, do it.

there will always be someone willing to buy a shell and transplant another motor into it. whether or not you'll get prime dollar for it or not is another thing all together.

i think a 67 chevy ii wagon with a syty drivetrain in it would be sweet. i know hood put one in his deuce, but it wasn't a wagon. if people were really opposed to you removing the drivetrain, i say pony up and buy the truck off of him. otherwise, stop bitching and moaning about what he's doing with *HIS* truck.

I wasnt bitching, moaning, or offended at all. Its his Sy, he can do what he wants with it. I was just giving my":2cents:". Although i would hate to see him do that to his Sy, he is making mine worth more.

I wasn't referring to you in particular. You started your comment off with what you personally wouldn't do, not the typical "Don't do it because I don't want you to" whine.

There will always be someone out there willing to tell you what to do with your truck and how you should treat it, bla bla bla.

i appreciate everyone's comments. the reason i brought it up was for a good argument. anyone want to trade their TY?

are you joking? isn't that one of the purposes of this forum?

The purpose of this forum is to share information and knowledge regarding these trucks. NOT to start fights and or arguements about stoopid stuff.

Joe, I second your opinion....the more that fall by the wayside will just increase the value of the nice ones that remain.

I also feel the same way. It's your truck. Do anything you want with it. About how many sy are left? maybe 2500? 2000? or maybe even less.

You say a sy doesn't really fit into the equation anymore , but you also said you werent selling . By reading what you have written it sounds like you DO want to get rid of the sy .
Was all this just a prelude to see what people would say about your new project venture ?
