Stretched hood latch cable

Short of replacing it how do you guys fix your hood latch cable when it stretches out?

I did this but I hate it:

Does anyone know if its possible to put a new end on the cable? Are they just crimped in place or are they soldered or something?

Bro, i cant make heads or tails of that repair, lol. I would just replace it, but I am Anal, and have OCD so that would drive me nuts. Cant imagine the cable to be much moola.....

just crimp a new stud or cable crimp-er to the cable and cut off the old one.

Replace the cable. Mine snapped years ago and I had to replace it. The biggest pain is getting the in-cab handle pulled out. Do it now before it breaks and makes it a complete pain in the ass to open the hood.

The hell with cables, fast trucks have hood pins.

Screwdriver=hood release.

Had a front fender bender and didn't replace the cable.Now the hood pop's up some times on me..:-(((

They're not that hard to change and iv'e got one if you want to go that route.

I fixed mine from doing that. Had a slight burr in the channel where the spring wire slides to engage the hood pin. A little filing in the channel and it's done:tup:
