Stock TY 1st test & tune to slow?

Well Last week was the 1st test and tune I have been to in forever, I decided to take out the GN and see what she could do. I also thought why not run my new TY. So the Buick ran 12.8 on its 1st pass and was down to 12.3 before we had to leave. I know there is a high 11 in there.

However I am curious on my stock TY if its time seems to slow?? I ran a best of 15.2 with a mild launch, (did not want to hurt her) Keep in mind I am at 5280 feet. This truck has full exhaust, stock boost, etc... It may have a JET chip but I have not double checked yet. So I am curious where others in Colorado are running stock?? and what everytone thinks on this ET

Heres a couple pics

Low 14's for bone stock. Your 60ft, 1/8 mile, 1/4 ET and MPH will tell us more.

You should be between a 13.6-14.2 for a stock Ty. Like Jeff said...more info please.

I could not find my 15.2 slip but here is another run Even at 5280 ft you think high 13's?

60 ft 2.740
330 ft 6.769
1/8 10.213 (mph 72.09)
1000 ft 13.142

1/4 15.597 at 92.31

The first thing I would do is tell grandma to get her own ride. 2.7 60ft is a second slow.

That alone will take MORE than 1 sec off your ET with no other changes, putting you where we think you should be.

Stock trucks should 60ft worst case 1.9, 1.8-1.7 is normal, 1.6 is not unheard of

I admitedly was not hammering it with boost launches as I just got it and was not looking to break anything and did not really know much about the truck. I think the track was not the best either as I could only get a 1.9 60 foot with the Buick on Street ET's and it has cut 1.6-1.7's in the past.

I guess I just need to launch harder and stop worrying about it breaking! :)

I can respect the not wanting to break anything. Not suggesting you go beat on it either. Just that is where the ET is being lost. Syty's on street tires will outperform a lot of other cars even on slicks when launched correctly. My black ty on street tires does 1.58's very consistant.

Ill have to go back up and try an harder lauch and see how that changes it. I had just got it and litterly unloaded it from the trailer drove it home and then to the track with the GN, wasnt going to run it but could not resist! :D

link to launch http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1880581048957 not sure if this will work?

You can knock a full second off that 60' time! That should put you in the normal range.

FWIW....MY WIFE cut a 1.68 60' in her stock Ty. ;)

Re: Stock TY 1st test & tune to slow?

Hey Mike, the couple of times I've been to Bandi and watched SyTy's race, the stock or mostly stock trucks seem to hover around high 13's, low 14's. Like these guys are saying, with a properly tuned truck and a good launch, I would expect mid 13's to be "normal" for 5280ft. :dunno:

You have all summer to prep for Nats to compare with other trucks.

I guess I have to see why it may not be 100% in tune. (maybe its the Jet chip in there) I remember Will running 13.50 or so in his Syclone with the "kaboom" chip as he called it, and intake and exhaust, but dont recall seeing any other stockish trucks around there. I think my old green/gray went low 14's in Pueblo, maybe a 13.9 dont recall.

Like you said all summer to get her right.

Re: Stock TY 1st test & tune to slow?

On our MHST Yahoogroups page, we have:

Jared Burke, Ty #2098 13.80 @ 97.62 | 1.83 60': Exhaust, Converter, 18 lbs

Looks like everyone else close to stock is right around 13.5 + or -

"close to stock" VS "bone stock" How big of a difference does that exhaust and a converter or tune make? I have not checked boost on this one yet but I would guess it should be around 14-15 stock would that be accurate?

I know on the GN we bumped boost 3 psi that night and went from 12.6 to 12.3

Any plans for a SY/TY test and tune gathering at Bandy prior to NATS

Were you just too scared to run faster with that state trooper in front of you? LOL! Better launch will equal a better time.

Better in front of me on a track than behind me on the highway right!

You got that right, they always seem to be behind ME! By the way, VERY sharp truck! the GN is cool, but I like the ty more. You can get on the ty in the rain and not end up around a tree!

It always seems like they are behind you when you are doing nothing and never around when the pimple faced teenager blows by you at 100 mph in his WRX!

You are right about the rain thats for sure!

Re: Stock TY 1st test & tune to slow?

We see the coppers at Infineon all the time. Great bunch of guys. Come out on their own time to race the high schoolers. Infineon calls it Top the Cops. Always try to say hi and thanks.
