Stock turbo problems

So I have been trying to figure out why my stock turbo starts smoking once it starts warming up, usually around 160 F or 3-4 min. into the ty idling.
I checked oil in/out line PVC and air intake restrictions, EGR, vac lines. No oil on the intake compressor side of turbo nor on exit of turbine side. No weird noise from turbo no shaft play
Things I haven't checked clogged cat? what about muffler?
I am no expert but I am just trying to eliminate things one by one since I can't figure out what the problem is.
One thing I did notice, the clamp that holds the compressor to the turbine it wasn't tightened down too much meaning I wrenched it down a few more times till it was hand tightened. Could this have caused oil to seep out thus the smoking?

Please describe for us, where is the smoke coming from. Where do you notice most of the smoke?

Why do you think it is in your turbo?

It seems to be coming from the location of the band clamp to turbine...the turbo was perfectly fine before this. Not a lot of smoke, but progressivley builds up I don't let it run long once it starts smoking.
I replaced all the coolant hoses and turbo in/out lines since they were leaking, after all this I started to notice this. The car didn't move for 2 months or so, but before firing i cranked the car up to build oil pressure and made sure oil came out the feed line to the turbo. I am going to put the turbo back on the car this wknd with the band clamp fully tightened and hope that was all it was...

Well I finally figured out that the smoke is coming out of right wehre the exhaust manifold and turbo meet, where it is held by 4 bolts. The smoke comes from the front 2 bolts def. smells like oil burning...

Took the ty around the block builds boost but just lacking power...

Can anyone figure this out?

sound like your bearing are shot & leaking oil around them will for sure make it smoke. oil is leaking through the bearings & into the down pipe once the down pipe warms up, it starts smoking. almost 99.9% sure this is the problum for you. about $350 to rebuild it. Waller performance do rebuilds. give them A call..

It's not the downpipe side that is smoking however, it is the exhaust manifold side to turbo side...

Is It Possible For Coolant To Leak On Exhaust Side Of The Turbo? Im Starting To Think Maybe That Is What It Is...

Downpipe Is Clean No Oil, No Shaft Play, Still Turns Smooth As Butter...no Blue Smoke Out Exhaust, No Oil On Intake Side No Metal Shavings...

Well the smoke cleared confusing as hell but I must have gotten oil on it and it gradually just burned off I guess cus now its not smoking at all??? Weird.... :roll:

something is not right - you got oil on it and now it just stopped? Definitely weird. Maybe you got lucky; I hope so, but the cynic in me says you might be about to get a whole heap of unlucky - like a turbo throwing its guts into your engine.

Your tag says "if you don't have time to do it right then you must have time to do it twice". I would be very wary of just thinking your problem went away mate - mechanically this doesn't ahappen. You may be about to get a total failure of something which will be a lot more expensive than a turbo rebuild/ exam.

Just my :2cents: but reckon you have not found your problem yet.

Why do you now think it was just a spill? Thought it happened on start then went away - every start? Something sounds fishy....

Yea I know it sounds weird and fishy...Im still keeping an eye out for it not taking long drives checking for the common signs of turbo failure, etc. being very careful.
But it just went away today after I ran it up to operating temp. smoked a little again so I turned it off ran it again (was testing to see if my new e-fan works) then the smoke just slowly disappeared and I ran it for a while again and no smoke???
