Need some help with my truck still wanting to overboost. I'm slowly working all the kinks out and getting it to be a solid (as possible) stock before I bolt on all these goodies I've got piled up. Lastest issue now that I'm back to driving it every couple days is that I've noticed its been peaking and poking around 16-20 psi in boost at times. Datalogger shows 15 since its still got the 2 bar map on it. But my AEM boost gauge climbs well past that on hard pulls. The needle on the dash almost disappears but thats expected, which is why I have the AEM gauge. Which is tapped into the RPM brake booster hose I have. Its a good reliable boost reading.
I thought maybe the solenoid was bad. So I got a new one. Didn't help. :x
Replaced the vac lines. Didn't help.
If I unplug the solenoid, not the vac lines, it'll run 9psi with the pedal on the floor all day long. So I think the wastegate is adjusted correctly? :?
What else could I be missing? Stock turbo. It still has the cat (or what looks to be a cat welded at the end of the DP. I'm tempted to just put the 3 bar map on and get a stock turbotweak chip for now just so I can get the computer to see the higher boost and utilize it vs running so lean. Or what would be a good manual boost controller to get that doesn't cost much?
