I am thinking paint also, not a big fan of any fabric/leather on a dash myself.

For that style dash, I'd go with Renz's suggestion, leather.
If you had frenched/molded gauges all across the dash, then I could see painted.

Gross...I would't pad my toilet seat, much less a dash.
Next thing ya know, we`ll be discussing pimp-my-ride accessories
like 13" rims/white wall tires, neon lights, and wood-slates in the bed or adding a
tailgate/bed netting. Just because the SoGT has an air suspension, doesnt mean
it has to look like/compete as NOPI candidate....(or shoot sparks on the freeway).

Seems every Car/Motorcycle Type-TV show has ostrich, suede, organic buffalo hide, or alligator
trimmed steering wheel/dash components with weird carpeting, cute antennas, flashy leds and skulls or such.
But then again, Im not a rat-rod "primer" kinda guy either....so surprise me (and it will probably
look better than anything I could have dreamed up)! But, Please, just dont let "Sport Trucks" Mag
dictate any changes...other than the addition of a bikini clad pitcrew. You've done great todate!

BTW, is the `57 gonna get a padded dash? And how's it coming?

yea, leather dashboards just never look good. Maybe if you stop thinking NOPI style, and think of the quality marty's putting into the sonoma...you'd envision thing like this:

well the 1st one is what i was referring to when i said black / charcoal w/ red stitching. If you think the others look bad....you should try seeing them in person. Gaurantee you'd like them. In case you don't know what they're from....1st: lambo gallardo, 2nd: porsche 911 cabrio, 3rd: mercedes slr mclaren

don't go over board, make it simple. you don't want to take attention away from the truck as a whole just cuz you have some wild looking interior. be classic.

I checked with my fashion and style consultant (the girlfriend) and we both agree with Renz. Black leather with subtle red stiching or piping is the way to go.

i would just paint it the same way as the outside of the truck, if you don't like it, you can always change to leather, and it will be cheaper to go from painted to leather than leather to painted, but than again, money doesn't really mather in projects like this, and it will be cool either way.

okay i love all of the suggestions. What i really like the most is the above statement about money doesn't seem to matter in projects like this. LOL - yes it does really it hurts to spend money that i've spent.

Okay i've got some idea's and i plan to bounce them off of Bob Thrash (Rad Rides) and see what he thinks.

It looks like it's going to be a leather and painted dash combo of some sort.

Good Morning All,

Core Support is finally starting to look complete and clean.
Kevin capped the back of the support to give it a finished look.

Before - Original Core Support.
Notice the big ugly lip on the core support

After.
Now it's nice and smooth

2006_12_09_008.jpg

Just a quick shoot of the first transition - more to come

2006_12_09_012.jpg

Kevin is going to make the final shroud over the Radiator.

2006_12_09_013.jpg

Dave removed the inner part of the fender to add clearance.

2006_12_09_016.jpg

On Saturday we moved up the inner part of the fender to check for clearance.
When the suspension is air out it looks like it's only has to be raised 2".

2006_12_09_019.jpg

Billet Hinges installed and they look nice. They will still need some finish work.

2006_12_09_020.jpg

New Tie rod Sleeves - Just trying to clean up the underside a little.

That's all for this week.

Curious to what made you go with a gearbox and not rack and pinion steering?

If you have a good enough Box the amount of money you would spend to get a rack to work correctly wouldn't be worth it.

Now i know there is a new manual rack available for these trucks but it's a smiple bolt in and it kinda doesn't fit the theme of the truck. Maybe the other truck that i am build will get it since i plan to take that truck to some track events just for fun.

I believe the sleeves are from Edlebrock. Not really sure Kevin gave them to me.
