Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

Thanks for the well wishes Guy's.

About a year ago they found the tumor in my thyroid and decided to do a biopsy on it. It came back semi-inconclusive. So they sent me down to the university hospital for another biopsy. This time a Pathologist was going to do it so they could get a good sample. Yep that was a big mistake there used to working on dead people. Needless to say he was an idiot and those result came back that it was possible that i had a malignant type of cancer. Since it was in the thyroid they decided to watch the tumor and see if it would maybe shrink with medicine. Well that didn't work so good the last biopsy was pretty conclusive. The tumor is now 1.5 centimeters & malignant. So now they feel they have to take it out because they don't want it to damage my vocal cords. This is the first of two surgery one now and one in 5 months. So it looks like i am going to get a couple extra weeks off work to lay on the coach at home and hang with the kids, should be fun. It will also give me some extra time to work on the build book for syborg.

Once again thanks for all the well wishes.

I gave my wife a couple people's e-mail so they can post an update. I may even ask Opie to run out to the chassis shop and get pics of what Dave did during the week of my surgery.

Good Morning,

Dave worked on the Dash this week. It's starting to look like a dash again.

First - mounted behind the dash is the Highway 22 Fuse Box.

You can see the Vent mounted on the Passenger Side of the truck.
We are still going to install one more vent for the Passenger highlighted in black.

Here is a close up of the Drivers Side.
All of the switches have been reverse mounted. The goal is to keep the dash ultra smooth.

This is what the backside looks like.

Dave had to change the way we mounted the dash so the hardware wasn't visible.

The MSD box is mounted in it's new home.

Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

is that how the switches will look? Or are you doing to make covers for them? I think you might be able to have a better/cleaner lookin switch than those long pole switches. :dunno:

K, Marty, with all these sudden threads on front disc brakes for GT's, I have to ask.... how much did it cost for your precision brakes setup? I must ask because I've got a set of Wilwood's in the garage right now waiting to be put on the rear once we start fabbing this winter. I still need to order some Airride Tubular A-Arms though still but I'd like to have nice shiney discs all around. Man, I'm broke...

Which Kit the 12, 13 or the 14.

12" Kit was around 900-1000
13" Kit was around 1300-1400 - but it never got made
14" Kit - let's just not go there (it had to be developed from scratch)

As far as the Air Ride Tubular Upper Arms make sure you get them complete as the stock cross shaft doesn't work with there arms.

Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

I was going to get the kit that was $899 that included shock mounts, etc. Is that what you're talking about? Is the precision brake kit located on their website?

Not sure been a long since i looked at Air Rides Catalog. Sounds like your buying upper and lower control arms

The brake kit at precision is on hold since there in the middle of a restructure. I'll keep you updated as to when the kit will be available again.

Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

Sounds good, thanks Marty. Yeah, the kit that I wanted to buy comes with.... arms, bushings, ball joints, air springs, shocks, bolt-on mounts, and fastners/brackets. I sent them an email to see what shocks they come with. I'd like to have QA-1's all around, but I'm just picky I guess...

Good Mornig All,

I would like to welcome Vintage Air to the sponsor list.
We look forward to working with them on this project.

We wanted a control unit for the dash that would work with our project.
It's ultra clean and simple looking.

Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

Good Morning All,

Well, this will be the last update for a couple weeks as the big day is Tuesday Morning.

Pictures don't do it Justice. Man are these tires huge!

2006_11_04_002.jpg

Notice the tire is almost the same height as the body line at ride height.

2006_11_04_008.jpg

Just like the picture.
PS that is one bad viper hanging in the air. About 300k invested so far.

2006_11_04_010.jpg

2006_11_04_011.jpg

Here is all of the Air Ride Equipment

2006_11_04_016.jpg

Dave installed the new Vintage Air Billet Defrost Ducts.

2006_11_04_018.jpg

Underside view. The ducts are temporally being held in by sheet metal screws.

2006_11_04_019.jpg

A little more trimming was needed on the dash so it would clear the door panel.
Although we are not using the stock door panels they were used as a guide

2006_11_04_020.jpg

Yep that's a bunch of guy's looking at an upside down bed

2006_11_04_021.jpg

Yep that's the stink can there Dad.

2006_11_04_022.jpg

Dave also trimmed out the inner fenders and closed the gap.

2006_11_04_023.jpg

That's all for this week. I hope to be back online by the weekend.
