Went to the track today and the truck ran like a limping dog. Traction wasn't the best as we were at Rock Falls yet again and it had drizzled off and on most the morning. Lost about 6mph in the 1/8 which is just confusing. And called it a day after my second pass as the truck fell on it's face after a nasty boost spike. My initial reaction was maybe I threw in some junk gas, the only thing I really changed was the tire pressure. On the drive home I ran the race gas down and stopped to throw some 92 in and the truck ran fine. Boost was obedient and idle was smooth. Could a gas issue really throw a truck off that bad?

Did you log any of your runs? Was the gas leaded or un leaded race gas? What octane did you use, did you run this type of gas before?

I don't have a datamaster. The gas was 110 leaded, but there was still a small portion of 93 unleaded in there. Wondering if that would do it. I have ran the 110 before when the truck made it's best pass.

IF you still have a cat then the leaded gas will stop it up in a heart beat.

i was told at the track near me that it was not good to run leaded gas because of the injectors and cat. if we run w/o a cat. is it safe on our injectors alone?

I think you're right. Hell, you know my truck better than me! LOL But there is a "sticky" feeling on the pedal when I get in and out of the gas at slower rpms.

This is kind of the way of like with the stock flapper in trucks that don't get used daily... either the flapper will stick outright, or it'll stick once everything heats up and expands.

You might want to invest in an external gate, Jon.

That's the danger of info you get in the wild.

Injectors don't really care what kind of gas you spray through them (short of Methanol or Nitro).

Lead will poison the element in a cat, but it doesn't plug them generally. What plugs them, is the over-rich fuel mix that most people run with race gas.

Also, if you run leaded gas, do it only at the track, and pump it out. Cruise/low temp operation/stop-n-go kills o2 sensors in a hurry. (Also speeds the cat poisoning)
