She started running out of fuel at 60mph and surging, had 1/2 tank but should have topped her off. Wants to suck air in the pick up in gas tank on hard launches. Guessing mph should have been 78 or so if it had fuel. Backed the 60 foot time with another 1.86 60 foot time but started starving for fuel at 40mph this time so i just shut down early and headed home.

That is usually not when the fuel slosh away from the pick-up happens, it's usually during the launch not @ 60 MPH.

Too bad you were low on gas. Better luck next time. No fuel you could buy near or @ the track ? Also need to post the timeslip.

that is mid 13's and bet you could do better without the cut out and some practice. maybe a flat 13? thats no turd in my book for as per your power level.

It shouldn't running out of fuel with a 1/2 tank. I know your zz4 motor is carburerated but what are you using for a fuel pump and pick up/sending unit?

The 1/8 mile is closer to a 13.8-9 1/4 mile My Syclone ran 8.5@ 80 mph when it was running 13.3-4@ 98/99 like a stock Syclone runs. At 60mph it probably isn't fuel tank slosh unless you have some type of funky fuel pick up

Yeah, the fuel pump is an old pathetic and loud POS. I actually bought a new one but taking it back, dont feel like throwing money this set up. I'm sure if I played with the set up via, fuel, timing and see what kind of launch it like I could get some mid 13's with it pretty easy in the summer..plus if I could hit a cold day with a 0 density altitude it corrects to a 13.14 at 98mph. Density altitude yesterday was 3455. So playing with it more and hitting a cold day, a 12 wouldn't be too far a stretch.

fuel pumps are cheap. throw the new one in and drive it until you get most of the parts for the lsx

Im on the fence, I wanted to tackle whatever rust is on the truck and frame. We will see what happens, I put the motor for sale on craigslist. If I have a buyer for it then I'll pull it apart then. It is a ton of fun to drive though right now.

I agree with the fuel pump crapping out. With it being old and getting loud as you mention it's on it's last legs. Throw a new one in and it should run much better.

Slapped in a new fuel pump and inline filter..pulls strong to 120mph with no hesitation or surging. :tup:
