anyone ever bolted on the smaller diameter vacumn booster from a 4 cyl truck or a 90's full size. just wondering if its just a bolt on and go or if there is some modification necessary. thanks.
Can I hijack this thread and start a discussion about the pro's and con's of hydroboost? What happens to the brakes if your engine shuts off? My very limited understanding of hydroboost is that it runs off of the hydraulic pressure of the power steering pump. If this is the case, and you engine stops running (who's doesn't at the worst time... it is a syty isn't it?) what happens to the brakes? Like the original poster, I am hoping for something smaller (twin turbos in my future) but maybe not hydroboost.

its probably no diffrent than what happens to your vacuum brake booster once the engine dies and you loose vacuum.. no matter whats running your booster once the engine dies you loose power assist (unless your running electric booster).
Just switch to hydoboost you cant get much smaller
Us "bodydrop" guys use either a first gen JM5 booster, a Geo Metro booster, or I run an aftermarket "hot rod" chrome booster with a 1 5/16 bore master cylinder from a 1 ton pickup.
I may or may not go hydroboost on the Ty, the much bigger master cylinder made a much bigger difference on the brakes than the booster swap.
Us "bodydrop" guys use a Geo Metro.
see, now are any of those direct bolt in?
