Sat. at the track

I took the Sy and 10 gal of unleaded 100 octane to New Bern Motor Sports (1/8th dragstrip) yesterday. I started out at 10 psi boost (my normal street boost level, just in case I get some bad gas somewhere), plus I was leaving soft at around 2500 and 3 psi. Even though the et's were consistent on my first 2 passes 8.217 & 8.213 with 1.76 60' ( I also had a -.015 & .015 light), I was disappointed. Usually I can go 8.0's & at 10 psi. I turned up the boost to 15 psi and ran 7.854, still with a 1.79 60'. It spun the tires real bad. From there till the end of test and tune the times didn't get any better. The track just wasn't hooking. I guess there wasn't enough other cars making passes for the track to stay sticky. On a good note, I did get to meet a fellow SyTy'er. Andrew, from Bermuda and New Bern, stopped in with his white Ty at the end of test and tune. His Ty really looked nice, even with the baby seat in the back...haha.

Here is a link to some fotos of test and tune click on date 11.8.8 gallery 1,2, & 3.

wassup Mel,
looks like some pretty good runs to me, sounds like you need some DR's though. I wish I could run 8.0's on 10 PSI, I got down to 8.0's with the Ty at the Richard Clark event, but that was runnin 18 PSI. 1.65 60' times so the Nitto's are workin good.

Hey Sean, How you been doing?

I was just thinking about that on Sunday. The times I had before were with Sumitomo's and now I have BFG's, so I don't know if that made a difference or not.

Nice meeting you Mel. Your truck is awesome, I wish I made it there earlier to see it run.

Regarding the baby seat though.....you should have sen the look on Randys face at BWR when I said I wanted a baby seat mounted in the back of my Camaro;)

Of course I know that...haha. Actually, your Ty looked so good, I didn't even notice the baby seat until you mentioned it.

Re: Sat. at the track

My wife (smart one in the family) told me what a Brassmonkey was when I told her this story. I can hardly wait to get back and drive the little truck again. I was going to take it back to Bermuda but just dont think that a 35kmph speed limit is going to work with that thing. So unfortunatley the Ty is going to live in NC in a nice heated shop with about 1000miles a year put on it. These Sy/Ty's have been a pleasant surprise. I just need to make mine a little faster...........

A cannon ball holder on an old Royal Navy ship. When it got cold the cannon balls would fall off hence the term 'freeze the balls off of a brass monkey'
