Bummed. Just did a leak down on injectors - No leakage. Put 2Bar and stock memcal back in - no change. Put in new Bosch 02 - no change. Checked again for vacuum leaks - no leaks found.

Here is what I found: The green connector on the back of the ECU- when I wiggle itwires just right I can make the truck die. Must be something with the connector. How do you get the pins out? Is there a special tool?

Frustrated in Mempho !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm fighting the same thing with my typhoon right now it's running really rich.I was just wondering had did you do a leak down test on the injectors?

Re: Running Rich In Mempho

My version of a leakdown test was to connect the fuel pressure gauge, turn on the key and let the Walbro do it's thing, then turn off the key. The fuel pressure stayed where it was. It took several minutes to start leaking down very slowly. I am assuming that this is telling me that I do not have an injector leak.

!

I used a cotter pin. Bend the prongs apart and make sure they remain parallel so they will fit into the socket of the connector. May have to cut the pins so they are of equal length.

I would suggest that you change out the oil NOW if it smells like gasoline.

Reset the ECM when doing changes with the fuse pulled.
Double check the vacuum line to the MAP sensor.
Make sure when running 2 bar the MAP sensor has an orange connector.
Double check on how the chipset is seated in the ECM.
Try putting a ground on the ECM case.

Re: Running Rich In Mempho

Thanks Daryl. Looks like I've got to do some more electrical testing. I have changed oil the the last few days, but I will do it again this weekend. I always disconnect the battery when working with the ECU. I have grounded the ECU to the engine and also ran a separate ground from the O2 to the engine. Definitely no vacuum leak at Map sensor. No vacuum leak at all that I can find. Good vacuum on gauge. Chipset / memcal is inserted properly.

Just did another FP leakdown test - it leaks down 2lbs in approx 2 minutes. Then the leak slows substantially, but in 11/2 hours it leaked down 20 lbs. I'm rethinking this issue. Is this amount of leakage normal? I'm going to check my son't 01' T/A and see what it does.

Thanks again, Keith

Re: Running Rich In Mempho

T/A leaks down much faster than the SY. Guess it is not injector leaking or stuck.

At this point I am going to order crimp terminals and all three plastic connectors. If this doesn't fix it I might just run it off in the river.

Re: Running Rich In Mempho

I just noticed in my TurboLink that it is not giving an Air Flow reading. It has not since this whole thing started. I am assuming that this is calculated since there is no MAF. Interesting. The MAP readings look fine (at least compared to other recordings of when the truck was running fine). Ideas?

I just got some new terminals for the ECU connectors. Will try some new ternimals as soon as I get a chance.

So summarizing: TurboLink looks fine with the two exceptions: 1. no Air Flow reading, and 2. O2 lean (220mV or less). Does not matter if Open or Closed Loop. Vacuum is good. Apparently no injector problem. Replaced ECU, ESC, and two different new Bosch O2. Back to using 2Bar and stock memcal.

Re: Running Rich In Mempho

Well we replaced ECU connector terminals - same problem. I'm defeated. I really don't have the time, patience, or money for it any more. Looks like my wife is having a re-occurance of cancer that we were hoping she was rid of for good. My time and money will be going into her situation. SY1514 is going up for sale. I hate to sell it the way it is, but that's the way it is. All these cool new parts and no chance to even run the truck one time. I am going to take pics and post for sale.

Again, I think I have two problems. Remember, it is extremely rich when I first crank it. It's in open loop then. Gas in the oil. I'm thinking stuck injector. If in fact I find a stuck injector should I go ahead and replace them all? If so, what injectors do you recommend?

Also, I checked again and the heater wire is connected 12v. I do not read 5v on the O2. Where am I supposed to read 5v? Ground is good, with separate ground to engine.

I'm not going to be able to work on it tonight, but I am on for tomorrow. I guess Thursday nite Test n' Tune at the Memphis Motorsports Park will not happen this week.

Thanks again. Keith
Has it set a code 45?

IMO gas in oil first thing to check would be a busted diaphram in the FPR.

Re: Running Rich In Mempho

Thanks Jimmy. I pulled vacuum line from it (plugged it) and when I turned it on no fuel came out of the FPR.

Okay, I took her to the shop. We'll see how it goes. So for now selling her is on hold.
