Hi all,
Need to ask a question. Had Sy a few years now and front rims have slowly becoming impossible to clean from brake spots and stains. So the combination of needing a new set of front tires led me to the local wheel "wizard" shop in Atlanta. Guy wants $180 per rim to "strip" and powder coat the rims prior to me taking them over to the tire shop for new tires. Says that after he strips it, I'll loose the machined cut (the very light circles) but will look "good as new". The inner cap with the GMC logo has the same circles but no stains or brake stops. My question is three-fold. Is powder coating even a legitimate repair? if I have him do both rim and cap think it'll look way different than the "pristine" rear originals? And finally is $180 per rim a rip off? I like the old style still but dont know if getting a replacement front set from someone is anywhere near easy,
Thanks for any info,
Pete
